“Under this bill, if an employer releases a U.S. citizen while retaining an illegal immigrant, the citizen could file a discriminatory practice claim and seek to have both his job and back wages restored,” Williamson said. “In addition, businesses contracting with state agencies that do not use an online program to verify the immigration status of employees would forfeit the ability to do business with the state. Businesses acting in good faith to verify status would be protected against liability.”

Its always funny when i see conservatives taking a liberal position and liberals taking the conservative position on some issue.

Conservatives are always complaining about government regulation of the economic system, yet in this case they favor more government regulation regarding employment and the liberals want less.

Its always funny when i see conservatives taking a liberal position and liberals taking the conservative position on some issue.
Conservatives are always complaining about government regulation of the economic system, yet in this case they favor more government regulation regarding employment and the liberals want less.

Liberals are just being liberals, and conservatives have the chamber of commerce and big money in their pockets trying to stay away from regulation...or atleast enforcing it. Thats how I see it on this issue :/

Nonetheless, it's still a case of conservatives arguing for more government interference with the natural market and labor relations. The cherry on the top of it all, is that they also provide a path to file a discrimination lawsuit.

Unfortunately the regulation in this OK bill is only as good as its enforcement.
