Hail to the King Baby!!!!
I have decided on a receiver, I think.

Let me know your opinions on it, since I am a total HT newb.

If anyone has any other options to throw out there, that would be great

Also I will just be using 2 speakers and sub for right now. I cant do 5 or 6 in the dorm room.

Thats okay with the receivers right?

For sub, probably and RE Re series 8", not positive.

Speakers

But again, I am not sure if those are good speakers or not.

I might not be necesarily buying from these places, just showing what I have selected.

Any input at all would be swell.

Hey, I ran two JBL 3way studio monitors and 250W pushing a Shiva in my room //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

As for the original poster, I would stay away from Polk Audio gear. I haven't been impressed by their offerings. You could build a pair of speakers for a whole lot less, and have the money to upgrade the receiver.

Those were some fun times, having that much shit in the room...now I get to pack all my gear into my apartment...ooh, more room for stuff //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I was hoping the HT god would see this //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Which of those receivers do you like more?

Or should I try and go with a more expensive one?

Out of those?

I would pick the Denon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Onkyo and Harmon Kardon are two other brands to look for.

But will they sound better than a seperate mid/tweeter setup?
Depends on your tastes. Personally, I like the sound of a full range setup, provides a real "point source" and is also easier to build...you don't need to design/build crossovers for them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif But it all depends on your tastes. The WR125 is meant to be used with a tweeter if you want to go with a more traditional two way setup...Exodus Audio even sells complete kits with them. However, that's slightly more work.

That's the info sheet for the FR125 driver...it's not loading very fast for me, but it'll probably work for someone not on 56k.

I have no idea how to do crossover nextworks and all that other stuff.

Is there any reviews on those speakers?

It looks like we might have a winner.

But I dont know about their power handling.
