Alrighty so first let me go over what happened:

driving around, la-dee-da. gf has a headache, so the music is playing at a moderately quiet level, everything going smoothly.

Using a USB input device (flash drive) for my music, and I hit a pothole HARD.

My HU now says "CALL" which I deduce from the manual means it thinks I'm using it for a telephone call? weird (Kenwood Ex X590). Anyway, I can change it back to music, and do.

Thing is, my sub is no longer playing. At first, I think it doesn't work anymore, but I'm here right now messing around with volume/gain, and it is playing, just FUKKING QUIET as hell! RCA's are good, wiring is good (obviously because it is working just fukking quiet), amp works, it's also powering my front speakers which work fine.

I think I'm going to pull the fuse for my HU to totally seperate it from power (hard reset) and see if that does anything.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Cliffs:

Hit Pothole

Sub plays very very very very quietly.

No change in wiring/settings/etc.

So you are saying everything works the way it did before the hit, just not the subwoofer?

The amp in the car powers the sub AND other speakers.

This is what i'd do-

First, get a DMM and measure load when stereo is off to ensure the sub is still connected properly inside the box.

If that checks out good, recheck your settings on your head unit to make sure that hole didnt reset anything that would affect the output of subwoofer control.

Next thing is to swap out head units.

The head unit already got confused from just a bump, it's possible that it got damaged as well.

everything works absolutely fine. The ONLY difference (besides the subwoofer not playing) is this "call" that keeps popping up on my Headunit. Reset it, checked the wires, everything is fine, it just does that. For about 5 seconds before it goes on, the sub is playing still quietly.

It is playing a bit louder now, I turned the gain all the way down, then back up and it seems to be louder...

The HU has not changed any of the subwoofer output settings. The menu's are really really gay, but It seems fine.

Fukking potholes.

I'm getting rid of my stereo soon...

I'm going to try and hook up the rear speakers to the 3 and 4 channels of the amp (the ones the sub is on) to see if they aren't screwy....

Tightened down the terminals on the outside of the box...

I hate fukking electronics they never ever work for me.

you just need to disconnect the neg on your bat to kill power and 'reset' the HU, rather than pulling it out to get to the fuse.

It is possible one of the RCAs to the sub at the HU came loose. That would drastically lower the output.

sorry, I meant fuse at the battery. Already did that. did nothing.

Already Checked the RCA's. Re-plugged them in. They are in their tight, on both ends.

I'm going to check tomorrow and see if the rear speakers will play loud using the same settings i have now, changing the pre-out of course. If so, i'm thinking the pre-out is belly up, or the sub wires inside the box (which will be checked tomorrow) are loose, or the sub is just completely fukked.
