OK....so what DOES compare to the all mighty W7?

For a long time I was wondering what's this fuss around w7s is, so I eventually decided to get one.

I got a nib 10w7 on what i'd consider a pretty good deal from one of the members here. even after brokerage and taxes for importing it to Canada I came up to probably about half the price of what they are available here in stores. Even some used prices aren't even close.

Warranty aside(which I don't think I need), I'd say price factor for me has already been solved.

As far as the sound, I used to have idq/arc, brahma, xxx all 12s. It's hard for me to do a comparison for myself, cuz last time I've heard brahma was almost a year ago and xxx was half a year ago. Would be nice to have drivers on hand and swap them out. But I used the brahma extensively for about 2 years, so I very much know the sound of it. And 10w7 sounds very similar to brahma: good ***** resp (integrates well with my midbass), really good extension (idqs don't even come close). xbl^2 has it's character tho hehe, the reason I sold brahma and xxx because of the certain way they sound. Not my sound.

My conclusion is, I'm very happy with it and the price I paid for it. It sounds awesome when I'm in sq mood and can bang some when I ask it to, all of this on a Xenon 600.1 amp.

So what do I think about w7 after I tried it? Price aside, I don't see a reason to bash it. If ya want to any decent comparison, measure the subs on klippel or something and get some numbers (assuming one doesn't fudge up the measurements //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif). This I like, he doesn't argument won't help much because we are all different.

After all, the sub plays a very limited range of frequencies, so I don't put too much emphasis on this component of the system too much.

not me. i call them overpriced because i can get a 04 cobra for 20g's put another 10-15g's into it and smoke em...only reason i would go for the exotics is the puss factor. plain and simple
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/word.gif.64b12e39f936af3b4fff38a1c0bd0244.gif Even if I were filthy rich, I'd still rather have an '04 VW R32 with the HPA Motorsports Stage 3 upgrade package (Twin turbos, ~650 HP IIRC, killer suspension). $50K and you have a sleeper that will crush almost any Ferarri, Porsche, Lambo you'll ever meet. Plus, the R32 actually has room for more than my laptop bag.

But back to subs, anybody who says that the W7 is the "Ferrari" of subwoofers should be slapped. There is absolutely nothing special about the W7's performance. If it works well for you, then great. It's a good subwoofer, without a doubt. But for some the price is too high. There are some amazing subs out there for less money than the W7. If all you care about is how something performs, then there is no sense in paying more for a product just because it has a different design and a recognizable name.

Although I would take a Porsche Carerra GT for twice the retail price if I could afford it. That decision, however is completely based on cosmetics, somehing that really doesn't come into play much in the world of quality subwoofers.

i just have an obsession with cobra's. have been for years and years. HOWEVER the r32 is ONE SEXY HATCH. no doubt about it. i love imports just as much as domestics. either one can lick some balls if done wrong.

oh i should mention, although ive never listened to a w7 in a car, i would most definatly take one based on the reviews ive read. i just dont feel good about spending that much money where i can get something thats just as good for cheaper. did i mention i love my 15" mag?

The SVT Cobras are pretty nice, but i don't really like any of the Mustangs between 1970 and 2005. Especially the **** Fox bodies from the late 80s and early 90s. Actually, the relative lack of good American cars from the mid-70s to the mid to late-90s is probably the reason I like imports as much as I do. Not many options out there for a cheap, older, American project car.

*taps foot expactantly* waiting for the r-tard of the year, (cotjones), to make a comment...
thats right gentlemen... our r-tard is back!
Apparently he's mascarading as xtremebassjunky, lol. I'm pretty sure Cot posted here already. First page, bud.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

most American cars are junk! Only car that holds anything is the Newer Zo6. But then again any company can stick a huge *** motor in a frame. No wonder they are losing big time.
