Ok, I think I'm done for now...

I have a feeling that is not what they suggested
Sure he did.

But it is noteworthy that he recommended a SAZ-1500D for the XXX12.

your sub has nothing to do with rattling, thats about how solid your car is, deadener, how the box is facing...
Fo sho... it was just an expression about volume.

It's funny. When I bought my supercharger, all I wanted was 400hp at the wheels. The guy at the shop told me I won't be happy with it, that I should go for 450 at minimum. I thought that was too much. But he talked me into the bigger blower to get me to 450 rwhp.

if you sell that mbquart 2 channel PM me, and i would stick with the 12 and give her some more juice, but 2 8s would be cool too, its your call, since you allready have all this stuff, put the 2 8s in your doors and keep the 12, niiiice jk do whatever you want becuase what you want to do is wat your gonna do anyways

From the W7's and XXX's I have heard.. (OWNED ABOUT 10 OF EM) the XXX is better. In sealed to ported. The SQ is close but the overall performance of the XXX dominates the W7's.

Id keep the XXX. Get a nice SQL box... or a ported box tuned low. Just from my experience with these subs.

We were talking about the XXX. Jacob would never recommend the 100.2's for an XXX. The XXX would stomp all over the W7's with a SAZ1500. SQ would be close, with the 8's with a slight upper hand, but not by a lot. The XXX would be much louder, and sound nearly as good, if not better. I would get rid of the 8's in a heartbeat.

The XXX has alot more potential than the 8W7's, but it also would need alot bigger box too. If you have the space, the XXX would be the superior setup (louder but with similar SQ). If you have the room, there aren't many subs that can hang with the new XXX. None that could seaaled. But if space is tight, the new style XXX is a very poor choice.

The XXX has some amazing things about it. But with that amazing amount of displacement potential comes a drawback... enclosure size. RE bullshits us with their recommended sizes because they knew if they gave out realistic enclosure sizes, alot fewer people would buy them on the grounds of lack of space. Unfortunately, this means alot of people end up putting them in way too small of enclosures (per RE's recommendation), receive peaky/shallow performance, and decide to move on to a different driver. A sub that should be legend, that should dominate when applied correctly, is more and more being seen as an abomination every day due to people putting them in incorrect enclosures. RE has tried to BS us into believing their product is more versatile than it is. But in doing so, they have actually given themselves, and their product, an undeservedly poor reputation based on performance. The truth is the performance isn't lacking, but the enclosure size recommendations are.

Basing what you think the speaker is designed to do, or capable of, on youtube videos.... makes as much sense as making your choice by throwing darts at a dart board while blindfolded.

This is good feedback. Here's the worse part of it all... none of this is installed! So the XXX hasn't even been delivered yet, neither has the 8w7's. And of course, the amps are pre-order, with an ETA of tomorrow... so at best, I won't get those for another week or two. hehe

Ah, I see. Yes, and that was a consideration. I might be going against the grain here, but I don't want the kind of power a SAZ-1500 generates. I'd have to take this to a ho-neva-levo... such as alternator, bettery, big-3 upgrade, sound deadening, capacitors, etc. I ain't ready for that. Not to mention weight... the XXX is 72 lbs!! Two 8w7's are 34 lbs. Lighter is better in my car.

And don't take this the wrong way, but you and I have different ideas of what "stomp" means. Hah! i would never use the XXX to it's full potential. Never.

of course, I say that now... but know knows after I install the 8's? It'll be two or three weeks before I get all this installed.

Dang, that's harsh. It's not like I'm buying a speaker from Radio Shack over the XXX!

Reading this thread, and all others about the XXX, there is only one thing consistent about it... volume! Am I really the only person that doesn't care about that? hehe

Refer to audioholic's post for any further info. If you don't plan on powering the XXX correctly, then why did you buy it? It is a pretty expensive sub to just buy on a whim. I am just a little at a loss. It is like buying a Viper and running it on regular. In the sense you wouldn't be getting all you could out of the sub.

The XXX can have amazing SQ as well, it just needs a very large enclosure to do so.

I apologize if I sound harsh, that is not my intention. The only reason I said it that way is because others have told you the same thing in this thread already, yet you dont seem to accept the logic. Youtube videos tell you absolutely nothing worthwhile about sound quality performance.
And what's worse, you dont even seem to be basing your decision off what you see performance-wise in the videos, but that they are based on rattling stuff. So if you had found a series of videos from a XXX owner where the video maker claimed high fidelity, and did not show rattling windows, your view of the speaker's actual performance would be different? What would you think if I showed you a video of someone rattling their windows with 8W7's, and bragging about how loud they get?

If you want us to discuss the SQ aspects of the XXX, we can. Its bL optimized, with all the wonderfully low distortion things that come with it. And, it has a rated 54mm of xmax, so it can be out-displacing virtually any other speaker on the planet, without even breaking a sweat. Less stress = even lower distortion. That also applies to any system that has more radiating surface area as well, which your XXX setup has over the W7's.

At the time, I was planning on putting one 125.2 on it. I assumed it could get over 400w (maybe 500) out of it. I realized it was underpowered but that would probably be enough for me.

I could drive a Viper on 93 octane all day. But I'd have to use race fuel... to reach its full potential. And I'm not looking for that... the Viper will still wipe the floor with most everything on the road.

That's my point. Two 8w7 with the power I'm giving it will be perfect. Sure it won't be as loud as the XXX with a 1500w amp on it. But that's hardly the point of my install.

I seem to be taking a beating from you guys for something I thought was an even swap, more or less.

That is the reason you are getting a beating from everyone. It is not an even swap at all. The XXX would be the much better choice.

Its not an even swap, must we draw you pictures? the only reason you are taking a beating is because you ask our advice, but then dont seem to be open to listening to it. If you have made up your mind, why are you wasting our time trying to help you decide?
Purchasing a 2000 watt sub with the intention of running 400-500 watts on it is not the recipe for a successful system. I dont think anyone would blame you for chosing the W7 setup, it sounds like it fits your needs better. But stop trying to blow hot air up our skirts that the two systems are equal. You downsized. That certainly doesn't bother any of us here. Maybe... its bothering you? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
