Especially for an XXX. Jacob is much more knowledgeable than that.I have a feeling that is not what they suggested

Sure he did.I have a feeling that is not what they suggested
Fo sho... it was just an expression about volume.your sub has nothing to do with rattling, thats about how solid your car is, deadener, how the box is facing...
We were talking about the XXX. Jacob would never recommend the 100.2's for an XXX. The XXX would stomp all over the W7's with a SAZ1500. SQ would be close, with the 8's with a slight upper hand, but not by a lot. The XXX would be much louder, and sound nearly as good, if not better. I would get rid of the 8's in a heartbeat.Sure he did. http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46243&page=2
But it is noteworthy that he recommended a SAZ-1500D for the XXX12.

It's funny. When I bought my supercharger, all I wanted was 400hp at the wheels. The guy at the shop told me I won't be happy with it, that I should go for 450 at minimum. I thought that was too much. But he talked me into the bigger blower to get me to 450 rwhp.
This is good feedback. Here's the worse part of it all... none of this is installed! So the XXX hasn't even been delivered yet, neither has the 8w7's. And of course, the amps are pre-order, with an ETA of tomorrow... so at best, I won't get those for another week or two. heheFrom the W7's and XXX's I have heard.. (OWNED ABOUT 10 OF EM) the XXX is better. In sealed to ported. The SQ is close but the overall performance of the XXX dominates the W7's.
Id keep the XXX. Get a nice SQL box... or a ported box tuned low. Just from my experience with these subs.

Ah, I see. Yes, and that was a consideration. I might be going against the grain here, but I don't want the kind of power a SAZ-1500 generates. I'd have to take this to a ho-neva-levo... such as alternator, bettery, big-3 upgrade, sound deadening, capacitors, etc. I ain't ready for that. Not to mention weight... the XXX is 72 lbs!! Two 8w7's are 34 lbs. Lighter is better in my car.We were talking about the XXX. Jacob would never recommend the 100.2's for an XXX. The XXX would stomp all over the W7's with a SAZ1500. Dang, that's harsh. It's not like I'm buying a speaker from Radio Shack over the XXX!Basing what you think the speaker is designed to do, or capable of, on youtube videos.... makes as much sense as making your choice by throwing darts at a dart board while blindfolded.
Refer to audioholic's post for any further info. If you don't plan on powering the XXX correctly, then why did you buy it? It is a pretty expensive sub to just buy on a whim. I am just a little at a loss. It is like buying a Viper and running it on regular. In the sense you wouldn't be getting all you could out of the sub. This is good feedback. And don't take this the wrong way, but you and I have different ideas of what "stomp" means. Hah! i would never use the XXX to it's full potential. Never.
of course, I say that now... but know knows after I install the 8's? It'll be two or three weeks before I get all this installed.
The XXX can have amazing SQ as well, it just needs a very large enclosure to do so.Dang, that's harsh. It's not like I'm buying a speaker from Radio Shack over the XXX!
Reading this thread, and all others about the XXX, there is only one thing consistent about it... volume! Am I really the only person that doesn't care about that? hehe
I apologize if I sound harsh, that is not my intention. The only reason I said it that way is because others have told you the same thing in this thread already, yet you dont seem to accept the logic. Youtube videos tell you absolutely nothing worthwhile about sound quality performance.Dang, that's harsh. It's not like I'm buying a speaker from Radio Shack over the XXX!

At the time, I was planning on putting one 125.2 on it. I assumed it could get over 400w (maybe 500) out of it. I realized it was underpowered but that would probably be enough for me.Refer to audioholic's post for any further info. If you don't plan on powering the XXX correctly, then why did you buy it? That is the reason you are getting a beating from everyone. It is not an even swap at all. The XXX would be the much better choice. At the time, I was planning on putting one 125.2 on it. I could drive a Viper on 93 octane all day. But I'd have to use race fuel... to reach its full potential. And I'm not looking for that... the Viper will still wipe the floor with most everything on the road.
That's my point. Two 8w7 with the power I'm giving it will be perfect. Sure it won't be as loud as the XXX with a 1500w amp on it. But that's hardly the point of my install.
I seem to be taking a beating from you guys for something I thought was an even swap, more or less.
Its not an even swap, must we draw you pictures? the only reason you are taking a beating is because you ask our advice, but then dont seem to be open to listening to it.
