lately i been having an odd issue with my mids.. to make a long story short, sometimes they could play low, loud, clear, perfect.
othertimes, it would sound distorted and just horrible, but this would only happen on certain songs.. and also happened when it was using less power.. and not playing as hard as as my previous statement, so it really confused me... and no matter what i did it never seemed to make a difference
since im stuck home sick today i decided to rip my mid out of my door and test it out...and i think i figured out why but...this might not really make sense...
while testing i found out from like 40-100 hz... it wil play great.. and just flat out pound...
but then i dicided to try some higher test tones... using 0 db's test tones on the test before.. and the test im running now... this speaker will actually start to distort and sound horrible.. once it hits like 130hz.. running the same amount of power from above... it only gets worse as you get higher... until at like 250ish hertz.. it seems to calm down...
so it appears as tho the speaker actually handles less power the higher i go... which makes abosluitely no sense to me...
and i've tested other speakers on this.. and they dont have this problem.. so its not the amp or the signal.. and i opened the test tones in an audio editor and they're also clean...
i've personally never encountered a speaker like this.. so is this most likely a defect.. or is this possible? does this make sense to anyone?
and i ahve another one i can test side by side, but i gotta rip it out of my door, so ill know for sure tomorrow =\
