ohm rating

you can put 2 speakers on 1 channel at 2 ohms? I didn't know that was possible... how would I do that? just connect the (+) and (-) from both speakers together and connect them to the one channel's terminal? would that affect the quality of the sound at all, and would I have to get a higher RMS rating to do that or anything?
I guess we didn't conclude the post just yet haha

1)Yes, 2 4ohm speakers in parallel make a 2ohm load, you would have to get more power per channel (125w per speaker x 2 speakers = 250w per channel) that is what you would need per channel if you wanted to run it at 2ohms.

could you parallel connect 2 speakers as bridged, or can that only work on either channel? The bridged power is usually at 4 ohm isn't it?

If you parallel 2 speakers it will give a 2ohm load, most amps that are bridgable are at 4ohms. Why would you want to have 2 speakers bridged, when you can have 4 speakers, 2 per channel.

Yes,if the amp is stable bridged at the load represented. If you parallel 2 speakers it will give a 2ohm load, most amps that are bridgable are at 4ohms. Why would you want to have 2 speakers bridged, when you can have 4 speakers, 2 per channel.

GOOD POINT. However, right now I have only 1 set of 6x9 speakers that I just want to put in my trunk for added music until I get the urge to add a subwoofer or two, if that ever happens. Also, if I got 2 speakers bridged, I can get more power out of the amp for a lesser price, as oppose to having to get a higher power per channel amp for a lesser price. actually, having it parallel bridged would keep the amp at 4 ohm, and the speakers would be at 2 ohm each, so it could end up blowing up the speakers, so nevermind about that. I'll just go with putting one speaker on each channel in the mean time, or I'll do the parallel idea on one channel and invest in another set of 6x9 speakers or even go with a 10" subwoofer for the other channel. I sincerely do appreciate your help and quick responses the past 8 hours or so of helping me with this. People like you are the backbone of these types of forums!!! Thanks again!

Do you plan on getting another set of speakers down the line? If so get a 4 channel amp that way you already have the power. What you can also do is get a 4 channel amp, connect the speakers to the front channels and your sub (if you get one) to the rear channels bridged.

actually the plans for getting another set of speakers were not in the original idea. I originally wanted to just use these 6x9 speakers with a small powered amp until I decide to get a subwoofer and buy a bigger amp for that, if that ever does happen. I couldn't get am amp that would be as smalled power as the speakers and with more power to power the subwoofer... unless that is why you suggested getting a 4 channel amp and just bridge the subwoofer... I could see how that could work now that I think about it...

I like that idea, but I'm looking to get a powerful subwoofer, and thus the speakers would be obsolete to my subwoofer once I would put that in. Right now I'm just looking to put in some speakers for more music. Once I get the subwoofer, the speakers would be useless, and thus I'd want to take the speakers and amp out to put in a subwoofer with an amp to power that up. Speaking of which, I was at walmart looking at some amp kit... should I get one for my current rating (for the amp I'll get for the speakers), or is it ok to get one for a higher rating so I wouldn't have to rewire the power cable to the battery if and when I go with a subwoofer and amp...

what do you think of this AMP? this is 100 x 2 @ 4 ohms, 200 x 2 @ 2 ohms.

I have one 4ch amp, if I bridged up for 2+1

the 1ch for woofer, can I push for 2 ohm woofer(1pair). couse the SPECIFICATIONS write for 4ohm..
