I am looking to get 2 dual voice coil subs, if they are 4 ohm, are they 2 ohm stable? of should i get 2 dual voice coil subs that are 2ohms> can i get an explanation on how this works. thanks!

and what about a single voice coil 4 ohm subs, can that be brought down to 2 ohms?

A SVC 4 ohm can't be brought down to a 2 ohm load. A DVC can. 2 ohm dvc can be brought down to a 1 ohm load either by there self or wired parellel together. The dual voice coil's advantages in mostly in its ability for sever differnet types of wiring. EX: a 4 ohm dvc can be either wired in series to 8 ohm or wired in parellel to 2 ohm. A 4 ohm svc can only be wired to that 4 ohm. That is what makes DVC such a advantage, its ability to have several different ohm loads

thanks for clarifying that for me, i really apprecaite it, so im looking to get 2 kicker comp vr and the kicker kx 400.1 sound like a good setup>

If you have 2 SVC 4ohm subs then you are able to bring the ohm level down to 2ohms, otherwise you cant with one sub.

what i am looking to do is get subs that get to 2 ohm so i get more power out of my amp, the Comp VR by kicker come in 4 ohm and 2 ohm which should i choose to get them at 2 ohm

you are correct, the two DVC 2 ohm subs are able to be wired to 2 ohms, or two SVC 4 ohm subs can also be wired to 2 ohms. As for the amp the 2 ohm version is better.

(2) 2 ohm subs can also be wired down to 1 ohm. Or a single 2 ohm DVC can be wired down to 1 ohm. That is were most 1 ohm stable amps have there wightest power rating.

I asked this in another thread, but can a XXX or a D2 be wired to 2ohms??? I was hoping either one of them would be able to since I just got a PG Tantrum 1200.1.

sorry but the D2 and XXX only comes in 2ohm DVC and can only be wired in 1 ohm or 4 ohm by itself, only way to get it to be 2 ohms is if you get 2 subs and wire them in series. But the XXX also comes in quad 1.4 which I dont know how to wire any quad coil setup, or dual .7 and it can come close to 2 ohms but only 1.4 ohm.
