ohm question and voltage

i cant leave stuff alone so i ripped out the deck and checked the rca outs both sub rca outs read 5 volts

hooked the rcas back in then checked the rca cables and this time both read 5 volts each. so i think maybe the rca prongs on the head unit or the rca cables were loose not connecting right.

the sound is a little better? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif so maybe the amp is not putting out very well anymore.

there a way to check the amp or clamping it the only way?
