ohm load with strapped amps

RIP CA.com.
The more I read the more I'm getting confused.

Im running 2 D2 subs.

I was running one 2200 at .5ohms (parallel wiring all Negs together all Pos together)

Now I have 2 2200s strapped and want a 2ohm load. Do I need to rewire my subs to series/parallel?

If they are strapped running parallel is that .25ohm each amp?

series/parallel yes..

strapped running parallel is that .25ohm each amp .. i would say yes. its going to share the load .

but i dont think it would be good running that low strapped. but its almost never at that ohms.

Rewired to series/parallel and got terrible voltage drop( low 11s) and bad clipping with gain set very low...

Pulled the subs again and rewired parallel and now zero clipping, only drop to 12.5, and stupid loud again...

Somethings wrong.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Stock alternator with 160AH of battery.

1 amp at half ohm will be just as loud as 2 of te same amps strapped at 2ohm... I know I've did it and didn't gain and swift did it and didn't gain. U would have to have 2 amps as strap at 1ohm to hear a differance.

How is that? 2 2200s strapped would put out "4400" rms at 14.4 volts

1 2200 at .5 would do 2500 rms ISH I'm guessing.

That's just how it works.amps come alive at .5ohm and under. If u strap at 2ohm , rise will get ya lol. And most amps don't like strapped at .5ohm but if it's working for u sweet!

Swift has two ampere 7.5ks and when he has 1 installed @ half ohm is just as loud as 2 strapped at 2ohm.. And same thing with my 8ks.

I think I know what I did wrong now though. When trying to wire up to 2ohms I bet I I connected the Positive and Negative from 1 voice coil together per speaker. Instead of 1 Positive from one VC to the Negative to the 2nd VC.....

So I was running 1 VC per subwoofer in parallel then strapped.....

Thats what I get for always trying to rush things and only having a tiny hole to see what I'm doing.. lol

the way ohms work is like resistance that electrical flow has... low ohms less resistance for electrical to flow... more ohms = harder for electrical to flow.

one amp at .5 might rise to say x3 = 1.5 ohms - where as 2 amps wired to 2 ohms rise to the same 3x = 6 ohms load / or 3 ohms per amp

thats just how it is - the higher ohm values cause less output from the amp.

exactly the reason i have six subs that rms value together 3600w and i have a single 7500w amp to feed them. because with rise im still within rms power range - and in danger of burning up the subs - yep - but thats the gamble now.

I wired my Crescendo Bc5500's at .5 strapped daily handled it like a champ! Got them wired to 2 ohm strapped and noticed a minute difference but much less voltage drop
Strapping at 2ohm and .5ohm is a huge difference so if there's hardly a difference in loudness something is wrong lol.
