rearview camera install

Here's an interesting question for you guys......

I am looking to add a rearview camera to my 5th wheel. I will have to run power and a one-channel RCA cable to the back of the 5th wheel. I want to put a connection in the bed of the truck so I can plug and unplug the camera when I hook up the 5er.

I have been looking at making my own cable due to the customization needed. I only need 1-channel of RCA, but in my researching can only find mic cable, which is two channels.

Do you think there would be any problem with using 2-ch mic cable, using one of the wires for 12v power and one of the wires for carrying the video signal?

Thoughts on how to best achieve a all-weather plug in the bed of the truck?

Any suggestions on what wiring and connectors to pick up?

Thanks in advance.

I don't recommend running the power and video wires in the same bundle. There are two wires for the video cable, and they both need to be shielded well for the best signal over this long run. Another option, if you can get line-of-sight between the two transceivers, is a wireless camera setup. We offer the Rydeen wireless camera add-on, but I have not yet tested it.
