Need help deciding with h/I alt to get ?

With so many companys and options I need help deciding which alternator to go with.

I was looking in js ultimate because of budget.

Looking for 240-270 amps.

Budget of about $350

Just want to know what's the best bang for my budget. This is not a what alternator is better or manufacture bashing just need help deciding. It would be for a 96 ad244

My Singer 320 amp hairpin is great and they have an excellent representative on this forum, but they may be out of your budget.

What vehicle? Someone was selling a 250 amp alt on here for $250.

It was for 90's to late 2000's Chevy Vortec's if I remember right.

Js alts seem to be awesome from all the reviews ive heard about.

The real question is how much power are you planning to run?

im going to run about 3-4k

And I am leaning towards js ultimate just because of price per amp

This is what id do running that power

DB Electrical makes good stuff for the price you cant beat them and you dont need a 275 to run 3-4k. id get a 220 alt from db i think they are around 280-300 max. A decent battery under the hood and 2 G31s batts.

alternator performence at engine idle is the key here - unless you have a burp tone viechle where you can rev to 2k rpm for the burp.

alot of higher output alternators dont produce alot at engine idle - and reving your truck the entire time your demo a song *****...

this reason i got the 6 phase / hairpin from singer ( mylows10) because of outstanding performence at engine idle compaired to other alt configurations

my singer hairpin large case gm produced 220 amps at engine idle and 320 at 1800/2k engine rpm

yes it was more than your budget - but totaly worth it in every way. charging at 15v is great also
