ohm help

I pulled my subs out of the box to see how they are wired and there + + - - on each woofer. Then going - + - + on amp . I heard if you connect them to gether it would give me a 1 ohm load but ive been told it is wired at a 1 ohm load already with out connecting them so i connected them. No noticble ear difference. Would i have to connect the subwoofers to each other like plus to plus from subwoofer to subwoofer?

[/url] if its wired like that with the line in the middle meaning its seperated would it not be a 1 ohm load?
