I wonder how mods are actually chosen?

They are voted?

Since you guys can't read the backroom, you don't know what goes on back there- if goob were to fix the voting, or screw the votes and just pick his own- he wouldn't have picked me- I've had some pretty nasty things to say about him in the backroom, and he's seen them, and responded to them- I doubt I'm a favorite of his- yet I've been 'voted' in for every single vote, except for one, which I withdrew myself from. I was one of the original moderators elected, and like I said, I've been 'elected' every single time- and I don't kiss anyones ***.

well, he changed is username making his old one available, which leads me to believe someone registered that name and this is a hoax

Dude do you remember how many people left because we didn't have mods?
Some of the originals- Steve, Dustin, etc. lobbied for mods. This place was out of hand before we had mods, and has been out of hand since we've had them.

alot of us lobbied for mods. but when goob decided to make it a popularity contest, it kinda defeated the purpose. why? just as you pointed out, nothing really changed, it actually got worse. and i believe more people left AFTER mods were instituted then before.

and it's the same today. mod nominees are determind by post count. and then voted on by the general forum. so, wh0re away, make friends and viola', your a mod. yeah, real nice system there. going to really snag the people who are mature enough to be mods. though, to be honest, it has grabbed a few good ones.

again, in the end, goob doesn't care enough to really institute change. so it's up to the individual members and mods to conduct themselves in a proper manner. and with the below average maturity level here, it isn't happening. bit(h all they want, it's not a democracy here. things aren't changing until those involved want too. and why change it if you got the power? it'll always be about the clicks and efriends and nothing more, or less. toss in the routine forum boner, and you have caraudio.com.

mrray13, more or less since I became a member here I have been lobbying for across-the-board, fair (no favoritism) enforcement of the rules.

Everytime I see someone get bounced for this reason or that while other, seemingly more popular [with the right people at any rate] members are allowed to do the exact same thing that someone else just caught a vacation for I will usually pitch a small fit and argue that what's good for the goose should as well be good for the gander.

Oddly it seems I'm the only one that ever sees it that way.

Nobody cares about the rules until they become a convenient mechanism to get rid of someone who has made themselves unwelcome. Outside of that? Those that continually crow (when it becomes convenient to do so) about TOS violations clearly demonstrate regularly that they do not care in the least about such things at the end of the day.

I think the irrefutable hypocrisy in that is both astounding in its scope and somewhat insane that it regularly gets defended!

I've come to the conclusion that it simply isn't going to happen regardless of how much I may wish it would or believe that it should.

It isn't going to deter me from trying every once in awhile but I'm not holding my breath that any degree of real change will be instituted here. Yes, but my way is considerably less....ermm.....3rd grade.

And I am a pretty decent typist.
