Official Old School Collectors Thread

I used to think that too, But I am in the same boat as Gunz.
**** just takes up way to much space and in the end you just end up selling it anyway. My amp collection was well over 300 pieces give or take 99% of it is gone with a few amps left that are on their way out too.

If I see a good deal I'll probably get it but I am not going to go out of my way anymore to find this stuff.
I know what you mean...I have over 100 pieces myself //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I had a decent sized collection at one time too. Had almost every variation of amp made by PPI for other manufacturers. It was taking up room and as stated above, would probably NEVER be used. I still have 20-25 of the hardest to find stuff but, the rest I have been slowly letting go. There are still a few pieces I would like to get my hands on but, there will be no more filling up spare rooms with gear.

Having said that, I actually do use some of my old school stuff.

You should set up a nice system with your old school stuff and enjoy it....no use in letting it sit on a shelf collecting dust

I am using some old equipment. My daily driver uses 2 PPI Pro Mos 50's. One powering two old school 10" Crossfire DVC subs (DW104D), the other powering a set of new PPI CS-356 components. Headunit is a Pioneer DEH-P47DH (1.5 DIN) and I utilize its onboard crossover for the subs.

Funny thing about those old Crossfire subs, I initially threw them in the truck because I didn't have anything else to use. I tried replacing them with some Infinity Perfect 10.1d's and really didn't have the necessary power to push the Infinity's to their full potential. So, went back to the cheap Crossfire's. They sound really good and I keep trying to find an excuse to replace them, LOL!

I have a set of VERY old school 10" Solo-Baric's...as in 1st series Solo-Barics...and am very tempted to try them.

I don't see a Hifonics Thor Series VIII there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif
You could definitely help him fix that situation. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
