Official: KX/ZX 2500 @ 1ohm Daily Thread

Alright well I can never find a definate answer from anyone about running a KX or ZX 2500 at 1ohm "DAILY"

I know it has been done before, but I was hoping to hear from someone with some actual experience about it. Ive gotten a few replies in the past about the ZX board, which is basically the same thing is the KX IIRC, aside from the lack of a fan. But I have heard the ZX will do 1 ohm daily, and I have heard the KX will do 1 ohm, but I havent heard of anyone doing it daily.

Now, I would assume it would and I will try it for myself and see, but I was hoping to get some input from some people with experience and/or know personally of someone who has done it. BTW I will be re-coning my BTL to a dual 2 (1.4) and wiring it to 1ohm (.7). When I clamped my KX 2500 I was rising from 2ohm (where its wired now) and rising up to almost 4, like 3.6 or something I cant remember. Im am putting around ~1600wrms to it after rise, so I am hoping I can wire to 1, and rise up to around ~2ohm and feed a great deal more power to it.

Worst case scenario I spend the time and money on a recone and it dont work and I try and sell the sub again.

I think it just depends on what amp you get. Meaning some kx's for some reason will run at 1ohm, and some zx's will run at 1ohm

This is officially a dumb thread. There are MANY discussions about this particular amp @ 1 ohm.

If you have the little extra electrical, the amp will run @.7, and be fuse friendly (stupid efficient).

Ive got a 220amp alt and a ytop in the back, Im going to get a set of nice batts though if I decide to drop it to 1ohm. I think it might be alright though with rise.

I've been running mine at 1 ohm for a year and a half.

If you set it up properly and have a good electrical system, you shouldn't have a problem.

Only the kx1200.1, kx1250.1, sx1200.1,sx1250.1 are 1ohm stable

none of the 2500.1's came from kicker being 1ohm stable

They will get warm at 1 ohm though. Be careful on hot days.

ive got a kx that ive been running at 1 ohm for over a year now, its on 2 treo 10's that actually measure about 1.6-1.7 ohm with rise, ive also been running a .7 ohm btl but havent measured what that is with the rise, needless to say shes been running flawless, ive got a 260 amp alt and 2 g34 yellowtops
