**Official Hunting/Fishing Thread**

there was this slaughter house in nebraska, and when they were moving the cattle through they kill the cattle then this claw comes out and grabs the dead cattle, but this one cow wasn't dead when the claw grabbed it, and it started flaling and wrecked the claw
my point exactly....the steak is good, dont get me wrong........but the process is ****ed up. The irony of it all, is my father is in the cattle business and gives him quite a good amount of cash and tax write offs each and every year.

The only pic I have are 35mm pics and I dont have a scannerI have killed several deer.

(2) 3 pts

(1) Spike

(3) 4 pts

(1) 7 pt

But I do have a picture of what I shot them with

You hunt deer with a shotgun too huh. I just got a rifle last year. Shotgun has more stopping power for sure.

i cant sit for 2 minutes without moving or something....could never hunt. and id prolly be so annoyed by the little things my buddy would do in the stand that I would take the shotgun to him before a deer.

Ill post a few pics..

Heres some pictures of 2 good bucks I killed last year..

Took this 7-point with my .45 Knight muzzleloader on the last day of the Mississippi season..Had been hunting him off and on since bow season.. 14" inside spread, 20" main beams, 7 1/2" tines, one brow tine was split and palmated.. That brow tine was 7" long and 7" around the thickest point..

9point02.jpg

Took this nine point with my .300 WSM ... He had 8 1/2" tines...

Picture of a 18" 10-point that I shot and lost 2 years ago, but found the rack this year while turkey hunting..

I would post more but i got to be at school in like 15 minutes..

O.. and about a shotgun having more power than a high-powered rifle.. LOL @ the noob.. Shotgun has nowhere near the power of a large caliber rifle, bud... Maximum effective range of a shotgun with buckshot is approx. 60 yards.. With a slug you can extend that on out to around 100.. But after that, you can forget about it.. A slug does have a fair amount of power on out to 60-70 yards, but still it doesnt compare to my .300 WSM... And I have killed many deer beyond 220+ yards, the furthest being a doe at around 300 according to my laser rangefinder..

Buckshot would be very effective against a human target as far as stopping power.. In fact, there is nothing id rather have.. Just imagine a 3" buckshot shell containing about 7-8 pellets the size of a large marble.. At 30-40 yards **** near all of them are going to hit you.. Can we say ouch??

You can make a perfect shot with a high-powered rifle on a deer, and that may travel up to 100 yards before he finally piles up..Us humans cant do that!!

I have shot deer with both and I disagree and I am no noob. The rifle has better range and accuracy. But I said "Stopping power" Ive shot many deer with rifles but I have never owned one untill last year, and after the shot I usually have to track for a little while. When I hunt with a shotgun I sit and wait between a food source and theyre bedding , in the morning and evenings most shots are within 20-40 yards. I shot a doe last year with a 12 gauge 3inch rifled hollow point slug because buckshot is illegal in kansas. I have never seen a deer fold like that. I shot her right behind the ear in the side of the neck and her head hit her ***. I literally folded her. Her tongue was out before I got to her. I guarantee a hollow point slug has more shock value than a rifle bullet. Not to mention that its possible for a bullet to pass clean through a deer and not do that much damage. I slug on the other hand stays in them. I would prefer to hunt with a rifle but for stopping power a shotgun is the way to go.

Oh and real deer come from kansas by the way. Those deer in your pictures are little ones around here.

Fact: Kansas ranks among the top trophy buck states, especially in recent years.

23 of the top 100 typical whitetails, and 24 of the top 100 non-typical whitetails, including 6 of the top 10 non-typical whitetails listed in Pope & Young (archery trophies) records, have come from Kansas.

28% (14) of the top 50 all time non-typical Pope & Young whitetails come from Kansas.

The No. 2 all time non-typical Pope & Young whitetail was taken in Kansas, scoring 257 points.

In the ten year period from 1984 through 1993 (what happened historically in previous decades has little bearing on hunting now), Kansas had as many deer entered into Boone and Crockett Club records (89), as all of states along the Atlantic coast plus the states of West Virginia and Vermont.

LOL Then if someone breaks into my house they will really say ouch. My 3.5" 00Buck has 18 pellets per shell. 4 Rounds in the gun. 1 in chamber, three in the tube. I am going to start shooting 3 1/2" MAGNUMS this season. I can only imagine what its going to kick like. Those 3 1/2 00 BUCK has a mean kick t them

Rifle has better power. A shotgun has stopping power, but nothing compared to a rifle. If you shot a deer with a rifle and had to track it down, you arent aiming in the right spot. My dad can drop a running deer with 1 shot with a rifle. And he isnt left handed. He cant see out of his right eye so he had to start shooting left handed this past season. He shot two running deer with his 30-06. 1 shot per deer. Both went right through the neck. Deer never ran. They fell where they were shot

I agree. I was gonna type that in my earlier post but I was too lazy and you did it anyways.

That is why is went down right away, you shot it in the head. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif If you would have hit it in the lungs, it probably wouldn't have dropped instantly.

Thanks for pointing out something that every deer hunter knows. You know what state the heaviest whitetail was shot in? hint, it wasnt Kansas.
