Official CarAudio.com Big 3 Thread

you should have 3 neg wires at the battery.
1. stock wire

2. engine ground 1

3. chassis ground 2

4. IF YOU GROUNDED REAR BATTERY TO FRONT BATTERY

you should have 3 on the positive side at the battery

1. stock wire

2. alt to battery 3

3. run to the amp. (or rear battery)

am i missing something?
those are the BIG 3 in green

Currently I have 2 cables connected to the negative and 1 to the positive, this is ALL STOCK. When I do the big 3, what do I do with the stock negative cables? Since one might go to a fuse box or something, I need to leave it connected right? I am getting a battery terminal(3 way) and with that is gonna be connected 1 wire for a 2nd battery, 1 to the chassis. My positive will have 1 for the 2nd battery, 1 running the power to the back and 1 going to the alternator.

So do I leave the stock negative cable connected?

Posting pics, btw also noticed I have 2 wires going from my positive terminal as well.

The one ontop is the power running to the d-block, but you cant see so clearly but it does split up into 2 separate cables.

So do I replace the stock wire for the positive terminal going to the alt and leave the other wire connected?

i would trace those negs down. one probably goes to the engine block. the other... idk. you should be able to take the stock negs out. (this is assuming you have big 3 done)

as for the pos. one almost def goes to the starter (or a fuse box) this one will need to stay. or maybe one goes to the starter, one to a fuse box.

trace them down and see what they go to, if possible. if not, just leave them.

what car is this?

96 camry and big 3 is not done. Can i just leave all those cables there and say where the pos goes to the alt just cut the original cable and like tape it off so its not a live wire?

why would you do that? why not just leave it?

is it a cosmetic thing? because current will flow through least resistance so the smaller wire will be useless, but it won't hurt to leave it. and it'll look better w/o taped up wires and such.

K so either keep both or permanently remove it, but still leave the other cable that goes to the starter or fuse box or wherever. But as you can see in the pic they are both connected to 1 clamp/terminal, so should I make a new one, or just cut it off as close as possible?

dupe? you mean fuse? i wouldn't worry about fusing the alt -> battery wire.

and you want 2 fuses between batteries. one at the front. one at the rear. for 1/0 i personally use 300a ANL front and back.

and yes, fuses go on positive wires.
