Is that supposed to be some sort of joke? 4 q's....vs 1 q. I wonder which will pound harder!

I'm assuming it was a joke. lol.

will the ssd's play lower the the Q's???? given the same box and power???. im tryn 2 pick btween the 2
My ssd hits the lows better than I was expecting. Have it in a 2.1cuft box tuned to 33hz. As for playing lower than a Q, beats me. Haven't heard a Q and that is install dependent.

How is your sub positioned? Sub up port back? Sub and port back? Port to the side?

Try turning your SSF down even lower or even off. I would just turn it off as you will probably not have any issues with it unless you listen to stuff that goes lower than late nite tip or soul survivor.

If your not getting lows from a Q your install needs a revamp.........
Im thinking of building a new box. Right now its a box with the sub and port facing back, but i want to try a sub up port back box. What size box and tunning are you other 12'' Q guys using?

The Q was one of the subs that dropped the lowest for me.

I bought it used and I still though it was stiff(even after being used for like 2 months on a memphis 1300 watt amp)

Well, I was right. I left the sub in my garage for 6 hours at 2000 watts playing 20 hz tones(Of course make sure that the volume is set accordingly so it doesnt bottom)

After that she was nice and loose, threw it in a box and was amazed.

Number two, your box is a little big. The bigger it is the more of a peak there will be at peak frequency, so make a smaller box, and use the space for more port to tune lower. 2 cu ft net at 30 hz would be pretty good.

Agreed 100%. That's probably what Im going to wind up doing. Think if i email someone at fi they can design me a box?

Munchies, your email has been responded to brother. Its a little long, but I hope all that helps.

Thanks,

I had my Q's in a sealed wall (about 2 cubes each) and they loved it with under 900 watts each. Played low down to 25-28hz with some nasty authority, and they were brand new.

I have 1 12 Q and is in a sealed box at 1.5cft and hits the lows real good when it worked, lol! Well still works, just is ripped and needs a recone, just now sounds like shit!

It does take some time for them to break in before they start sounding to their potential. I had mine off 1000rms amp doing maybe 900 out of it and sounded great while it lasted. Not sure if I want to get a recone or a new moofer.

Why not turn down ur ssf, maybe thats killing ur low end response? I used to have that problem using the ssf on my hifonics bx1800d (not really a comparable amp as far as quality is concerned, i would have much rather had the US Amps hahaha).

try some other songs. I just got a Fi too and I used to have a mag. At first I wasn't impressed but the more I use it the more I like it. Some songs hit much harder than before others not as close.

The ssf is set to where it needs to be. I've decided to just build a new box, designed by shawn at fi; 2^3@30hz, sub up port back. And hey hifonics are decent power for the price

what is the ssf set at? you know that whatever point it is set at is already 3db's down right? so if it's set at 25hz then 25hz is 3db's down. even 30hz could be slightly affected by this if so.

i turned my ssf off, buy i don't go around slamming stuff below tuning. i try to be careful.
