Not getting the Bass I hoped for

Sorry in advance as this may be in the wrong section.

I recently purchased a sub+amp package at car toys and got it installed there(for a ridiculous amount). What I ended up getting was a:

JBL GT4-12 Subwoofer

Dual XPA2100 300 Watt Amp

and just a regular box

$130 for the 3 items, $30 for a wiring kit, and $100 for installation

The amp is underneath my drivers seat and it never overheats or anything. When I listen to music at my preferred volume, the sub gives my seats and rear view mirror a good shake. Even if I put the sub at +15 on my head unit (the highest it goes) I still don't get the bump that I want. When I am walking through the city or just near my house, I will always hear a car with the bass just thumping. I can hear the bass from a block away. However, with my car, from the outside all you hear is the trunk make a puny rattling noise(hardly much bass). So, Ive messed with the bass on my head unit, but I have not touched the gain settings on my amp, mostly due to the fact that I don't know too much about those settings.

Knowing nearly nothing of car audio, and rambling on about my crappy system...I know there has to be a way I can maximize the power of my bass.

Basically, I'm just asking the experts on what I should do or at least try to do.

Thanks

sorry, it is a sealed enclosure.

It is pretty much identical to this.

Your biggest issue right now seems to be the enclosure. By porting it, it is going to take a lot less wattage to get the sun to its full excursion. I think once you get a ported box you will be much happier with the output:D. Once this is done you can then maybe get more power etc.

# 2 ohms at

# 4 ohms bridged at

# Dynamic power: 300w

Pulled that off the amps website: http://www.dualav.com/amplifiers/xpa.html

Well, I'm currently in High School, and there are some kids who drive home at the end of the day with there stereos just cranked. The bass is just crazy from across the street, and I could only imagine how it is inside the car. Now, I'm pretty sure nobody at my school has spent over $500 just on there lows.

I know for $130 I'm not gonna get much, but maybe messing with the amp may help?

There is a little bass boost knob on the side of the amp....But it looks like a screw. Can i just screw it(lol) to the right a little bit and possibly gain some more power from that?
