Not getting the Bass I hoped for

When I am walking through the city or just near my house, I will always hear a car with the bass just thumping. I can hear the bass from a block away. However, with my car, from the outside all you hear is the trunk make a puny rattling noise(hardly much bass).
So?

Even if you're a basshead, being heard outside the vehicle is about the most useless reference to how an install is doing...

in alot of cases dont u lose bass by being heard outside?
With everything closed up yeah, but windows open bass WILL go out, and i wouldn't call that losing as many cars are louder with a window open
150w in a sealed box for $130. I garentee those other guys have the Kicker 2x L5 prefab boxes at CC with 800w or so...they get pretty loud. Their ported, helps a lot.

Read what specs are reocmmended for that subwoofer on jbl's website, have someone draw out a design for you, and build your own box, ported. Sell that POS dual amp or give it back, all the bassboost in the world isn't going to make it any louder it'll just distort more.

I honestly just don't think you will be happy until you buy better equipment. I am sure you are on a budget but maybe look into something else. That sub might be ok, but you for sure need a better amp and box.

Give us a budget if you are willing and I am sure either myself or someone could help you out.

just crank that bass boost all the way up and turn that head unit to +15....

just kidding dont do that

do what everyone here has said and either port or get better stuff. search ebay, and use ca.com as a reference. everyones first system is usually not the greatest, and it wont be long till your switching stuff out... you go to adjusting on that amp and you are going to end up clipping and your gonna mess your stuff up.

To the OP... You're knid of comparing apples to oranges. Do you think that the guys with streos that can be heard for blocks only have a couple hunred bucks invested?

Don't get me wrong. I'm not getting down on you, or your equipment. It's just that this is a VERY expensive hobby. You can get what you want... but you have to pay for it.
