Yeah I mean he should of handled it better. Still it's just like a mt lion taking farm animals that cost you money. Would you not kill it then? Do not compare this to a house cat. Dog that size could of thought a kid was some thing it could kill next. Still he should of just found it and put one in the head not 27.

what do you want the op to do? You want him to keep trying? And the next time the neighbors 6 year old daughter gets mauled by the dog? What then?
no chain the dog up like it should be. or be a man and train it. dogs have very impressionable minds. they can be trained easy with good care and a stern trainer.

more than likely this dog was a hunting dog that got loose. its his fault for not taking proper care of it.

The are proper courses of action to take in a case where you have an unwanted pet that you can not control. Lets not forget that you are taking things to one extreme and for the negative. If that is a sufficient argument then taking all extreme ideas of what could have happened is just as sufficient, which includes one of positive nature.

I don't care he shot it. Using a demilitarized rifle to tear it to shreds then post on the internet about it, that is the problem. I will drop an animal in an instant if it is sick or hurt, or I plan to use it. I will how ever make sure it is quick and painless as possible. I guess not being a douche bag and hurting an animal on purpose makes me a sally. I guess I don't like getting put in the same label as you jack ***'s because I happen to own an AK47 and an AR15.

We agree...that can't be right...can it?

you can bro you can train any dog to do any thing.
....... There is a reason certain dogs do certai. Things. Like my lab is bread to retrieve dead birds off of a marsh. This dog is bread to be a working dog not a hunting dog. So the average person will not try to train it to hunt. Probably a bad farm dog that some one wanted to make some one else's problem.

Not every dog can be trained, let alone having a very aggressive and violent nature trained out of them.

but in the end, this type of thing should not be posted publicly or at all for that matter as a "vent"

I could show you some pics of some of the things that I seen and did during my time over seas to vent but you know what?

It will not do anybody any good what so ever.

OP, should have done what you needed to do and left it at that and NOT come on here with it.

though I still sure this is a troll attempt.......//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

They do up in the northern states and Canada. I had one and it loved to go hunting. Very territorial dogs. My friend has a yellow lab he is trying to train for hunting as well.
I'm not saying dogs aren't used for hunting. I have 2 dogs one use to hunt the new one I'm working on trai ing it for duck and geese hunting.

you must never have had a dog. when i lived in roanoke we had a boxer/roghty show up at our house. mean little thing. 6 months later i could slap it and wouldnt get a growl. dogs go by the surroundings of them and what they know. teach them something different and it will show

Why should he OP didn't?

He did it out of spite as he lost control of his aggression. That does not excuse those actions.
obviously the OP has issues and probably shouldnt be aloud to own guns!!!
