Noob question about enclosure volume

When running two subs in an enclosure do you have to double the recommended volume?

Say I have a sub that requires 2.0 cu ft. (lets just ignore port volume and sub displacement for the sake of simplicity.)

If I want to run two of them, will a 2.0 cu ft box do or do you have to double it to 4.0 cu ft?

assuming standard loading.

if you loaded them isobarically of course you could cut down to 1 cube.
