i got my 4 18s and 8000+ watts in my van but my buddy has a beamer 08 5 series hes had some problems with his system and battery draining ... i guess its kinda fixed now but anyway..

he has one jl w7 13 he had a 1000/1 but it broke somehow..it was always really hot but the trunk in the 5 series has no breathing so its always hot in there any suggestions on amps that would push the sub ok but not heat up so much i was thinking pdx 1000 since its digital but not sure if that makes a difference how hot it runs or not..

i was even thinking a good 500 or 800 watt amp will do fine but he just wants to make sure the amp dont over heat again....im thinking the amp couldve been bad from get go he bought it off Craigslist

Alpine mrx m240

does well in my setup with little ventilation.. if his amp was getting that hot, it was struggling to be fed enough power.. upgrade the wires, big 3, better/more batts, and possibly a ho alt. the 1000/1 isn't a very efficient amp. Can also add little pc fans around it. Before a new amp though, upgrade the wire if it's not the largest he can run in the car

Gives him some room to go with another sub if he wants.. it does 1500rms at 4ohms, for the price it's a great amp. I'd def. upgrade the wire, and do the big 3 before getting a different battery.
