Need a shallow sub

I need to add a little bass to my wifes 74 bronco. Im NOT going to cut anything and theres not much room and I dont want a box in the back. My idea is to build a box for the passenger seat to sit on top of. It would be downfiring. I have like 12-14" front and sides but only 7" tops for the depth. So if I use 5/8 mdf woudl I have enough room to build a decent box? Hot much room does the sub need from the face to the floor? How much room does the back of the magnet need from the back of the box? Im thinking of using a sundown SD10 in a sealed box, any other recommendations?

How do you plan to mount the box safely so it won't move? Likely, best choice would be to rethink where you want to place the sub and enclosure.

As for shallow subs, I have been very impressed with the MB Quart shallow subs.

Because the back of the seat is bolted to the floor pan. Then theres a large drop to the front where the seat attaches. Basically only th efront of th eseat would be bolted to the box and I would bolt the box to the floor using existing holes.

I have the Precision Power 13" subs with a depth of 2". PHANTOM-13 is the model. However, I think with the max dimensions you said it will not have enough room unless you make the outer edges wider at the centers.

Another nice sounding option is the CDT HD-1000CF. It's recommended to have a box around 0.75 cubes, but with polyfill a 0.5 cu ft box would be adequate.
