noob help

hello,

im looking at buying (2) alpine type-r 12'' subs...but i dont know what amp i should use to power them. i started reading the type-r thread but got lost when people started talking about cheese and stuff. anyway i wanted to know what is the best amp for a decent price that gives these subs the power they need. or are there other subs i could get for about the same price ( on ebay ) that are better. i listen 99% of the time to rap/hip-hop and i drive a nissan altma ( 05 ). while reading on the type-r thread i found that someone had a single type-r that hit like 150 db with a custom made box. so i wanted to know what would be the best style/type of box to get the best sound out of the subs. i appoligize for this being so wordy/nooby. i know just about nothing when it comes to car stereos. thanks for any help you can give me!

The bos you are hearing about is Tcab. Dont worry about that. I would reccoment a ported box. Im not exactly sure how many watts the type R are rated for so I do not know which amp would be best for you.

dont listen to dude above ported box way to go. if u got cash 2 12s = 1700-2300rms max is good

im pretty sure the type-r's are 500 watts rms and 1500 watts preak..im lookin at gettin the dvc 4 ohm ones not the 2 ohms . im not really sure of the difference except i think you can wire the 2 4 ohms down to 1 ohm which i guess is better

ok iam goin say it once if u buy a amp thats 1000.1 giving each type r 500rms u wont be happy

so even though alpine says 500 watts rms i should give them more? would this blow them eventually or would they be fine? would giving each 1000 watts be to much? sorry for all of these questions

yup 1000rms to each woofer in nice built box. they will be fine just dont be dumb

ok thanks for your help..is there any single amp i could use that puts out 2000 watts rms..also what would make a box better? should i have one custom built..try to do it myself..or buy one from a store?

dont buy from store there is alot of guys on here that can make a dam good box or u could make it use the search botton on wat size box we have a box plans sticky and as far as wat amp theres lot amps with that output do u have budget

ok i will search for the boxes and see. as far as the budget i am prob going to buy everything off of ebay to keep the price down..i found 2 type-r's for 200 plus shipping so i would prob like to pay around 200 or less for the amp..i have about 500 maybe more for the whole system and i would still need cables/wires, and the box.
