Noob help needed...wiring my two type R's

I got a great deal on 2 type r's in fiberglass with an alpine amp on ebay, I just got around to powering the amp and had a few questions.

Here is what I won:

What went wrong:

-When I ran the speaker wire from the mono amp to the left sub, I got no sound, when I ran the wire to the right sub, I got sound out of both subs, but it was fairly week...nowhere close to what I expected.

-I am not sure as to how it is wired inside of the enclosure, nor can I look because it is sealed well with glue.....

-Is sending the speaker wire just to the right sub, thus powering both, the best I can do? Or is there some special way to wire all 4 terminals to maximize the power output?

Any help advice is highly appriciated....thanks a lot guys.

I may be wrong(not being able to see the way it's set up), but I think the reason you get sound out of both when you connect to the right sub is because they are wired in series. And if they are your only getting 200wrms total to both subs since dual 4ohms can only be wired to 1 or 4ohms which is why it sounds weak. If thats the case your going to need way more power to get them moving. 100w a sub doesn't do them things justice

They most likley are wired in a series inside of the box....what is the optimal wiring outside of the box, given that it is a mono amp, and there are two +- posts on each side of the box.

I had the 620 watt version hooked up to my subs and the things HIT HARD...I cant wait to see the power of this 1920watter.....guess the amp is just really weak!?

The Alpine wouldn't be a bad amp on one of the type R's but it is a poor match for two dual 4 subs. The amp you ordered should work well if they are wired in series.

Looks like a nice enclosure. Don't know why the guy glued the subs in but I suppose it works.
