noise after amp install

I need help determining where the noise is coming from. I am only getting the noise from the am/fm radio wether the engine is of or on so it is not alternator noise. I am wondering if it is my rca cables or the remote line to the amp. I ran these two wires together and I am wondering if that would be causing the noise that I am hearing. Also I used the rca cables that came with the amp install kit and wondering if I should upgrade those and see a differrence.

did you tap into the power antenna wire, or remote wire?

remote wire it was blue and white

If it's only on the radio, you cna rule out a problem with the RCAs. Possibilities are powersupply interference from the amp (not very likely because both AM and FM are affected) or a problem with the antenna.

I did not have this problem prior to installing the amp. I will check the ground connections again and see if I can find anything.

Ok today I took the stereo out and I grounded the rca cables at the back of the head unit. This seems to help out a lot with the fm signal but now I am definatley hearing the alternator whine on am stations very badly. I drove the car around a bit and I am happy to be able to listen to the sansa-e260 through the itrip without much interference. I will eventually get a new deck that has an auxiliary input on the front so that I can plug in directly.

Any suggestions on AM whine? other tricks?
