stupid *** idea pioneer came up with. I dont know. And i will believe the above statement when i hear it for myself. I HAVE NEVER HEARD A HIGH END PIONEER THAT SOUNDED BETTER THAN A HIGH END ALPINE!! LOL

Its not a bid deal. As long as you don't ground out your RCAs, short them out, or reverse polarity - you will be fine. From what I can tell, most people that have burned them out were hot-swapping their RCAs or grounded them out to the body. I have a cheap newer Pioneer $80 unit that plays and sounds just as good as some of the more expensive units I've heard.

Sounds like you will need to run an external crossover / DSP to get what you want using new equipment.

9855 has Glide Touch and I hate it. It looks like an Alpine CDA-117 wiht an Audio Control EQX would do what I need it to. Atleast with out breaking the bank. The EQ on the Audio Control isn't parametric but its still pretty good. That will be a last resort. My 9835 works great and the face is 9/10 cosmetic condition... praying it lasts me.

haha.. I was kinda thinking hte same thing. I saw new faceplates on ebay for 110$ shipped I was thinking of picking one up as a spare. I love this radio..
