No More Ding Dongs

No apparently they hadn't been doing well for a while and over the last week the workers went on strike because of pay cuts and loss of pension so the company decided to liquidate the various lines to other companies. Someone will buy the recipes and re-release them.

Thats what I heard on CNN this morning
Sounds like TC Sounds or T3. When you can't afford to meet your obligations you just go out of business and re-open under another name.

The good thing is a twinkie has a shelf life that's measured in centuries. It is similar enough to styrofoam to be used as insulation in your house. Stock up now and you'll have some to sell on eBay 20 years from now when they're collectors items.

I just hate losing icons like this........a lot of products were around when we were kids.....twinkies, ho hos, ding dongs, barnums animal crackers, and who remembers stage plank cookies? With the pink icing......what about RC Cola in the big glass bottles....my papaw called them belly washers.....lol

This is kinda the same situation as the auto companies a couple years ago. The unions in hostess had thought they had wiggle room when it came to negotiating a better situation for it's workers, but miscalculated when they underestimated the severity of the bankruptcy agreements with the lenders holding the company afloat. Now the workers lose their jobs and any chance of a Union later down the road, if they are rehired, and now even overseas companies can buy them at the right price.

I foresee them moving to a state which does not allow Unions in order to keep the costs down. That's the main reason all the car manufacturing plants are opening in Mississippi, because pay is lowere compared to Detroit, but it's still higher than the average wage in Mississippi. I just hope an American company buys most of the Hostess brands. Most people don't realize Hostess has over 30 separate brands, and all are being sold off separately to maximize loan repayment profits. Titty sprinkles.

I am not anti-union but at times like this the Unions will have the workers cut-off their nose despite their face and this is exactly the same as what the auto unions were doing, striking and holding out for more money. Sometimes the companies are greedy and don't want to pay, other times they are unable to pay more. At some point the workers need to say "oh **** this is serious" and go go back to work. I would rather not receive a raise then have no job.
