Hello I have a 2006 dodge stratus and I've looked high and low for a high output alt for it, all the known good brands that make them don't make one for my car style. Is there a away to get juice for my amps? I'm currently running a 1500 rms mini d block for my sub and a a/b 600 rms amp for my fronts. I have dimming lights like a strobe light when I'm at high volumes. Is it possible to run mulitiple stock alts I believe they're only 85 amps. I also have a xs power battery in the front not sure of the model installed a couple of years ago. I want to stay away from caps of possible. Any advice would be helpiful even if it's "you're screwed". Thanks!

I had the same issue with my 08 caliber, send mylows10 a pm, he was able to help me, maybe he can help you as well.

Have you done the big 3? Added any extra batteries or a bank of ultra caps? Honestly with a 2nd battery and the big 3 done you should be fine.
Yeah after that you should be fine try to load test your batt and see if it's good to go up front

If your willing to spend extra go with dc power or excessive and have them do a custom order.

You maybe capped at 180amp or 245 amp alts.

The stratus alt case is small.

I do have a big 3 done, always thought more than 1 battery on the stock alt would kill it faster. But I'll look at dc power orexcessive and see if they can help thanks

mylows aka jim hooked me up with a alt for my 07 pt cruiser that peaks at 370amps under load. shoulda seen the guys face that did the load test, he thought i was full of crap. i should add the fact that all the mods needed to install the alt cost more than the alternator did tho. about a grand with all cost for alt and install. was told a alt that big could not fit in a pt, i said make it work got 500 into alt lol.

Do you have an "old head" electrical shop around? Find an old guy that knows what he is doing and he can probably redo your stock alt to put out more power. That's what we did 25 years ago when no one was making them in volume. Them old dudes will surprise ya

Alt works a slight bit harder but its not gonna fully charge batts nor is it gonna kill the alt. The alt doesnt get pushed beyond what it can do. However Extra battery reserve helps out amps immensely. No substitute for an alt but at your amount of power, unless your alt is a 80 amp alt, it shouldnt need a big high output alt. Maybe find an alternator rebuild shop and get your current alt beefed up.

I think my current alt is a small 85 amp I had my stock alt die on me about 3 months ago, and took it down to my dad's shop and they just replaced it, no idea what they put in to be honest but it's a dealership so it's probably cheaply made

I contacted usalternators and he said hebhasbsome that would fit now to pick the amperage, my amps have a total of 200 amps. 140 from mono block and 60 from a/b would a 250 alt be enough? He said that anything higher won't charge my battery at idle which I don't like. But 50 amp for my car other electrical doesn't seem like much over head.
