No front output?

Hi,

Recently bought a 'new-to-me' truck and have some audio questions. The Sony CDX-L550X head unit that came with the truck would not play radio, cd's played fine; sound only came from the rear speakers.

I found an awesome deal on a Pioneer DEH-P690UB and installed it today. Radio reception is good now (FM anyway, no AM ? ), but still have no front speaker output.

I have run new speaker wire from the right front speaker to the adapter that goes between the HU and the trucks wiring and still get nothing. I removed a front speaker and attached it to the rear speaker wire and it works, so the speaker is ok.

What do I measure for at the HU output? IE, do I use a digital volt meter and measure volts from the pos and neg front right speaker wires? amps?

Clueless...

check if youre getting an ohm resistance from behind the radio coming from the speakers
Hmm, not sure exactly what you mean. I ohm'd the speaker wire I ran, it checks out fine.

is there an option on those head units to turn off the speakers? probably called the internal amplifier.
I checked the manual and didn't find anything related to front speakers only.

Thanks guys, keep it up!

Russ
