My 1st attempt at installing a new head hasn't gotten very far. I have a 16 pin female connection hanging out of my console (image 1), but I need the 12 pin male end (which I have) connected to the new head (image 2). Haven't been able to find an adapter. Is my only option to strip & splice? That seems pretty extreme for swapping a head unit, but I can't seem to find any simple options & no one at the local car audio shops seems to know what I'm trying to say.

Your use of male and female is backwards. Male goes inside female (usually).

We need to know the vehicle year/make/model/trim in order to identify the proper adapter. Knowing the make/model of the head unit helps as well.

It's OK, the answer (unfortunately) is that there aren't adapters between brands. I was looking for something that would plug directly into the Clarion harness with an output suitable for a Blaupunkt head unit (to save myself some splicing). Oh well, not a big deal. Thanks!
