Newbie to the Forums needs a little advice and help....

BTW thanks for the FAST responses!!!!

One other thing...the PG X200.4 is rated at 200x 4 but at 14.4v.... does anyone know the 12v rating?

Doesn't that make a large difference?

a normal charging system produces over 13.5 volts. if you are below that you have problems. all shops, atleast around here, thing jl is god, they are good and all, but there are other products out there that are just as good for less price. imo it's not worth it to spend the extra cash on zapco instead of a pg or orion. also PG is underrated. my ti500.4 was benched at 567 watts rms.

No because your car runs around 13.8v...

AHhh that makes sense. Now with the PG X200.4 do I have to worry about the opposite of my initial worry? Is the 200 watts in the rear going to kill the Diamond Audio M361i's which are rated at 100 watt RMS?

Nope. You just set your gain to produce the required 100 watts for the rear channel...

Yeah that is the same feeling around here. That is why I was frustrated about the marketing aspect...everyone, around here, thinks that JL is the only amp company, and most shops around here say that PG is not as good as they used to be and are not of good quality.

Oh I thought that the amps STARTS at the 200 watts per channel (for the X200.4 ) and then go up with the gain from there.....didn't know that I can turn the wattage down.... see how much I know!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Thanks for that link, makes alot of sense.

So if I configure the system as follows:

PG X200.4 for the fronts and rears

PG X400.1 for the sub

and then some very cheap small amp for the center speaker

I am at about $600 which is my limit and I will have a nice, clean, plenty of power, system?

i would personally get the xenon 100.4. that should be plenty for your front stage. then i would use the extra cash to upgrade to a xenon 600.1.

But don't forget I need to power a center speaker also.

So I called PG and asked their opinion for setup and here is what they suggested.

200.4 : Use 2 of the 200 watt channels for the fronts, then bridge the other two for 400 watts for the sub.

100.4: Use two of the 100 watt channels for the rear, then bridge the other two for the center channel.

This would stop me from needing the extra amp for the center and give plenty of power for everything.

Thoughts?
