newbie that needs some info

as the title says, im a new guy to car audio and i know someone who is wanting to sell me rockford fosgate series 1 pro 10" subs with a box, are these good speakers i know there old but he only used them for a month, he is also selling a RF punch 100 amp that he tweaked (he knows what he's doing) idk what he wants for it, what im asking is are these good subs to start out with? he's asking $80 for the subs and box, my dads running over there tomorrow he knows what to look for, he used to work with virgil williams, owner of the worlds loudest single sub in a car, so he knows what to look for, thanks before hand!
