Allright. Before everyone gets pissed at me I just want to appologize in advance. Being an administrator of a Bass guitar site I know how frustrating it is having uneducated people come and ask stupid questions. With this being said I have done hours and hours of research and still cannot find exactly what I am looking for.

Basically this is the deal.

I am looking to put a system in my 94 Pontiac Bonneville.

These are the components I have so far:

  • Dual XDM7510 Car Audio Receiver-220 watts peak. I believe 22 watts rms x4
  • SPX 1000 watt amp and sub set. (From Pep Boys) Bought from a friend, not sure on RMS but I'm hoping someone here can help me with that.

NOW. With that being said here is where all my questions come in. I am just going to have a professional install it. No need to mess around with things when I could just pay somebody 60$. BUT I need to know what kind of speakers to buy first.

Front speakers are 4x6 while back speakers are 6x9.

How much watts do I need each speaker to be? This is the part that confuses me. I wish to power my speakers with my amp, so I'm guessing it would be enough to handle the power of the amp. But do I divide this power by 4? This part confuses me.

Also just a standard amp wiring kit from circuit city or wallmart will work correct?

Thanks a lot guys.

Mark

(Again sorry for the trouble. I know how annoying this probably is)

Hm... I can start from scratch other than the headunit. Already bought that. I don't own the subs or anything yet, so I can just forget about those.

I'd say my budget is about 300-350... Real low.

So lets say I just have the head. Now you guys got 350 to build me the best sytem you possibly can for my cheap ***!

A lot of people look into buying a system without having a realistic idea of how much a "nice" system costs.

It all depends on what you consider to be "enough", although in most cases a budget of $350 is rather low.

Allright guys. I'm goign to take your advice. I'm going to hold off on an amp and subs till I have the money. Or I'll keep just checking the Bay and and a deal might just pop up.

So for now I already have the headunit. What speakers would you guys recomend getting for this head? Nothing too expensive-seeing as the car is a 94. Never know if it will last that long. And if my new car isn't the same speaker sized im porked.

Thanks guys.

Mark

id love to just have head

i reckon you try the for sales ont the forum i may be able to hook you up with some 6"coax but im in austarlai so it defeats the point of being a bit cheaper i beleive i have seen somone offering pg rsds in the forsale or trade section ami right an1 an1 an1 and as for speakers just go with some 6" splits as they are the most popular i beleive that they (pg rsds) are a favorite on this forum so they are farly cheap then a resonable 6" coax or even 6x9 for your rear you could run of the HU untill you get an amp an sub better than no sound then buy a 4ch for you speakers and a monblock and a FI BL sub thats my 2 cents anyway i maybe able to help with the coax as i said but i have no idea what the post would be about 60 bucks i would think
