NewB to car audio, Would like advice on subs for a jeep grand cherokee

Hey, Ive been lookin around the net for he past few days and went to best buy the other day.. and the guys workin there almost had me sold on some sony xs subs with a sony amp.. well My friend told me i was completely lost and should do some research and pointed me to this site...Basicallly i know the brand names, but have no idea on what is what in the world of car audio. So here is what I would like to do.

I want to Get some bass for my Jeep. Its a 96 grand cherokee. It has (4) 62.5i Infinity speakers, i think thats what they were. But besides that, the amp and head unit are stock. I would like to spend about $400 for everything, i really have no idea what i can or should purchase for this price.

I would like to know, what amps and subs would be a good set up for me? As well as which kind of box i should look into.

Perhaps when you think you are ready to purchase you will have a bit more money saved up. You can easily get a decent beginners system for $400.

Like Jmac said, depending on what kind of music you like, you could possibly get just the right system on that budget.

I suggest you listen to the type R's at bestbuy. See if you like them. Alot of people here like them for the money. Try to stay away from sony though, their car audio isn't the greatest quality. If your going to buy anything for your car your best bet is to order it on a internet site such as thezeb.com, sonicelectronix.com, or a trusted and reputable ebay member(high rating and customer satisfaction). Stick around this site you'll learn alot I sure have.

you can look into some poweracoustik subs and amp for that price it would be a good begginer setup

easily. I havnt heard them but if theyre simply downgraded versions of the SPL line of premier subs, two of them would pound nicely and not break your budget for an amp.

Where should i look to get the pioneer subs? the sites ive checked out have all been at least 200+ for 2. Thanks.

Aslo, what would be a good amp and would have sufficient power for these subs.

Any more help and suggestions would help a ton.
