Hey, i just got my first subs in my '96 cherokee. 2 10" Alpine Type-E's, vented box, and an Alpine M450 Amp. First impressions are, this system is loud as hell and i think its pretty awesome. Just one question though, is there a way to maybe turn down the bass a little on the amp or the sub somehow, not going through the HU? Its not that the bass is too much, its just i can barely hear the words to the song, all i hear is the bass. If you could let me know that would be great. Where i got them installed they have this bass knob thing im not quite sure what its called but it hooks up to the amp, but i figured id ask for another way before i have to spend $60 or so to get it. Thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Did you install it all yourself?

Anyway, quick & easy solution is to drop the gain on your sub amp. Just set it by ear to where it sounds the best to you.

New door speakers are comming. No i did not install this myself. Im new to car audio stuff so im not quite sure how this is done. I see this knob kinda thing that says gain and its between 1/2 and 3/4 to max. Can i just turn it back with my hand, or do i need to use a screw driver? I didnt look more closely because as i was doing this, it started to rain. Thanks

Keep it out of the rain for sure. If you can turn it by hand, turn it by hand. If it looks more like you need a flathead screwdriver (My amp does) then use a flathead screwdriver.

It's been raining on and off. And it's cold. Not a great day for the DIY-er and his vehicle. I had planned on building a(nother) box today before I caught drift of the weather, now I'm here sitting on my *** and surfing CA.com.

Yes, go with the above suggestions. You can make your system blend better togeather until you can improve your front stage. Those type E subs don't get talked about to much here, but thery are really good subs for the money. Good sq and do get loud for what you pay for them.
