New to Car Audio

Hey all,

I'm kind of new to car audio and my mom who lives a few states away is going to take a Honda Accord (I think its like 1998 or 1999 model) to get an audio deck put in and speakers. The car is going to be for me, a 19 year old so you know...I'm lookin for some high fidelity rockin sound lol.

She said that she was going to ask them to decide what to put in unless I have any specific suggestions, which I don't at this time.

Does anyone know what makes of audio decks and speakers are recommended for a Honda Accord? She said that the guy from the store recommends Alpine or Clipse (I don't know if the second one is spelled right, she told me over the phone). What do you think of these two, or do you have any other suggestions?

Eclipse all the way!! If she is willing the spend the money, I'd get either the 8053 or the 8454; both are kickass decks (look them up on the Eclipse website: http://www.eclipse-web.com ). But, if you weren't going to get an external amp yet, then I guess you would have to get the 8454 since the 8053 doesn't have any internal amp. Also the 8454 plays MP3's.

Yo thanks man. I'm lookin at some reviews of that 8454 and it's lookin pretty hot. Just to make sure, for this thing, I don't need any external amps or anything right?

All my mom said she was going to do was put in a CD player (deck whatever its called) because the car currently lacks one. I'm just makin sure if I choose this there isn't really anything else I need.

Also the speakers...I have never bought car speakers before...do they come in packages for each car model? Or do you pretty much have to go look in the car and determine what you want to put where.

Yes, the 8454 does have an internal amp, so you don't need an external amp. But it is an awesome base to start building a killer sound system off of (for future upgrades that WILL come once you get bit by the bug).

As for speakers, go to somewhere like http://www.crutchfield.com and look up your make/model/year of vehicle. It will tell you what size speakers your car has. Then, you just need to pick out speakers that size.

Hell man, with a dash kit d@mn near any single din deck will fit. It's a matter of what features you want, and how much you want to spend. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
