New to car audio, wanting to get into SPL

Ok, like the title says... Im JUST starting car audio, and wanna get into car audio competitions... I just dont know where to start, or what to buy.. I heard that L7's sound good, but I have also heard they are for SQ. Could someone please point me in the right direction? I dont have much to spend... First of all the L7's are not good sound quality at all.They are good for spl on a budget or just starting off.There are alot of subs for spl for high prices though just to name a few ..Diamond audio, JL, DD,RE,Critical mass,and many many more.the key thing is to have lots of clean power,descent to great subs,custom enclosures for spl,and the big three for the electrical end of things. Ive seen alot of ppl hit big Db numbers with mediocure equipment so to start off with get some descent subs and a good box with alot of power and go from there.Also browse the product review section to get some opinions on diffrent equip.hope this helps a little we were all newbies at one point.

South Fulton, and my budget right now is like... well, lets just say, low, BUT imma save up and get the parts one at a time. South Fulton? I used to live in Hapeville, down the road from the Ford plant. Anyway L7's are great budget spl subs, just remember they like a lot of power.
