New to car Audio, Need some recommendations on my first system

The vehicle I'm going to be installing the system in is an 05 dodge ram 2500 Laramie. It has the stock infinity sound system in it, which requires a special adapter to power the stock amp when i install the aftermarket head unit (not sure what the adapter is called yet). I'm looking for 2 18 inch subs, amp, and head unit of decent quality for around $1000, cheaper would be better. I plan on building the enclosure for the 18s myself and using 0g wire if that's what is recommended? If there is anything I'm missing let me know. Any help would be greatly appreciated =).

I like the subs you suggested but i forgot to mention i need a single din head unit. Also if you know a good amp(s) to go with them would be cool. I'm not to familiar with pairing amps/subs yet.

Powered front stage? Are you talking about powering the factory amp? A local shop said they have an adapter that would hook up to any aftermarket head unit but costs around $140.

The factory amp powers the trucks speakers not the sub if that is what your thinking. If you would suggest getting that replaced I have to hold off for a while. Need to get some bass in my truck first =). But if you know if there is an amp to replace it down the road I would like to know.

I know what it does. My statement doesn't change. There are thousands of amps out there. Which one you want is up to you. If it looks to good to be true it is.
