Ok so i know pretty much nothing about car audio. I have a 1995 jeep grand cherokee laredo with the Infinity gold AMP and factory everything.

Now i just purchased four speakers (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8699429&type=product&id=1199494646605)

and i purchased a head unit (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7652382&type=product&id=1134701297638)

I went to best buy to have them installed and they want over 300 dollars for install and for the wires needed.

Now to my questions...

1) Is that price rediculous as it sounds

2) Someone told me something about my amp being 2 ohms and my speakers being 4 ohms so it wont work. Is this true? and if so what should I do to make it work ( do i need to buy something or can i bypass the amp or somethin)

3) What wires/tools/supplies would I need to purchase to install myself

4) If i do install myself is there anything i should make sure to do or not to do so that my expensive speakers and radio dont blow up lol

3)

the factory amp runs at 2 ohms probably but if you are puttind in another cd player then you need to bypass the factory amp or it is pretty pointles to even install another cd player, your door speakers would still run off the amp

Ok how do I bypass the AMP?

basically im tryin to learn slowly about everything so i can do this install myself and save the money.

Let's break it down (prices are approximate):

Wiring harness - $20

Radio install kit - $20

Assorted connectors, screws, loops, ties, etc. $5-$10

Labor - $250

This is assuming that you already paid for the speakers and head unit am I correct?

I'm not too sure your amp would work with a new headunit, it might require some sort of adapter. If I am wrong someone please correct me.

EDIT - Do a google search on "Jeep Infinity Gold amp bypass". I turned up a lot of info that way.

3) What wires/tools/supplies would I need to purchase to install myself
All-in-one Crimper/cutter/stripper tool is a is an excellent investment.

A basic ratchet/screwdriver set

Door Panel removal tool

Electrical Tape

Assorted connectors, crimps, wire ties. You can usually buy a variety pack at RadioShack.

Female speaker connectors

4) If i do install myself is there anything i should make sure to do or not to do so that my expensive speakers and radio dont blow up lol

Make sure to disconnect the negative battery before you start. And as a general rule NEVER touch ANYTHING that is positive/negative together, by accident or otherwise //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Hope I helped at least a little, I know how it is being new //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
