hello everyone..... just got my first truck an 06 Chevy Silverado.. crew cab and ive always wanted to have a NICE system in a car... so heres my chance... the thing is I dont know where to start... I know nothing about crossover this... mutli channel amp that but am more then willing to learn, as a matter of fact i want to.... anyways where should i start? I have about 2,000$ to spend and would like the best i can get.. if i need abit more and it will make a noticeable difference then i can wait a few paychecks.. no big deal... anyways im looking for something that wil hit HARD . I play anything from Heavy metal to Rap .... I dont want it to be all about bass either... id like for it to have nice bright highs along with the heavy heavy lows so it sounds like music and last awhile so i dont have to reaplce subs and amps every friggin week... im sure you know what i mean. What company would you go with.. what gear for that matter? someone told me Kicker was the way to go .... 3 12`s with one amp and stuff..... I just dont know where to start or who to listen to..... this is where yall step in though... thanks again.

depends on the space u ahev in ur trunk.. Id say go with a single sub as in a 15 or 12 Kicker L7 or something like that an orion or Directed amp and in a Sealed enclosure...

buy a cd player

buy some component speakers

have a car audio shop make you doorpods or kickpanels to house components

buy a 2 channel amp for components

its optional but you can use rear speakers so people in the back can hear better, just run these off of you aftermarket head unit

if you want to keep the stock look buy the mtx thunderforms box that fits under the seat

put 2 subwoofers of your choice in it (i think it fits 10"s)

find a mono amp for you subs

get a wiring kit consisting of power wire, ground wire, remote wire, distro block, higher guage wire to go from distro block to amps, speaker wire, and have a shop install it

and you might wanna invest in a good alarm to protect your investment

ok i think thats about it, use the search button to find out what subs/speakers you would need depending on your tastes and then buy an amp thats rms output matches the rms rating of the subs/speakers.

simple enough?

Really? With two grand?

If I had two grand, Id go with some higher end equipment than a directed amp......and why woud he go sealed?

Yeah it sounds simple enough but im not sure where to go now... some say get higher end stuff? I dont want to go and throw two grand into a mediocore system if I could be haveing much more.. im willing to hold off and learn all i can so I get the best system I can. Any more suggestions guys?

waiting a little wouldn't be a bad idea... you don't want to rush into buying the wrong things... also, you will probably have to pay for an installer right? if so, save some money for that... and look around, some places will try to scam you.

But overall, it's kinda what you're interested in that you should get. Do lots of research and I suggest buying online. It is a lot cheaper online especially if you are checking the right places. Only downside is waiting the time it takes to send.

your 17 and got an 06???? wow...can i adopt into your family??? J/K

Eclipse cd5000

rainbow SLC Components

Zapco Ref350 Component Amp

Orion 2500d

but it's worth it in the end (buying from a reputable online store). but like ^ said, just take your time and research a little. you'll be alot happier getting something you like than something we suggest you buy. come back to us with a list of your top 5 or so choices and we can help from there. g/l and welcome to the forums. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Ok well i have abit of an update on my research. Also I have alot more options because of some recent news.Long story short my truck was in a accident...totalled it out and insurance is gonna pay in full for the truck. Now im thinking of a new car / suv or soemthing of that sort.Anyways as of now ill be getting (more then likely) a car or suv /blazer whatever that has ample room for a really nice setup. So now for what ive been looking into..so far im really likeing the way the RE subs look , along with kicker and a few others . Is RE top of the line stuff if money isint really an issue? With my insurance money and all I can spend upwards of well...alot. Maybe not 10 k or anything but i wouldent mind spending 4 maybe 5 grand if its really worth it but im not gonna just let it go up in smoke... im not rich by any means and worked/work my *** off for what i have and earn it in full.So with that in mind..... where should i go now?

Also I have a few more questions.. some people say id be happy with one 15... some say two 12`s , some say three. Some even say three 18`s .....i say good luck fitting that into a car and makeing it sound right. What do you guys think? RE the way to go or is there higher end stuff out there? I dont want just pure bass... i listen to alot of heavy metal....all the way to heavy bassy stuff , bth , three six mafia.. im just a bass junky really. But id like the music to sound nice...if that makes sense? Then again id like to be able to turn it up and feel the bass kicking me in the chest othertimes. Is that just asking to much? Also i appoligize if some of the questions sound *** backwards , im still new too all of this. Thanks for all the help.

Best regards

Rhino.

wow guy you have to much money

anyways if your a "bass junkie" but want some good sounding bass while your at it, you could go alot of ways RE , kicker, Sound splinter, but i would go with the '06 L7's , if you get a large enough S.U.V. you can get 2 15" '06 L7's in a large box+properly powered that would be pretty much game over in the bass catagory , then with the rest of your money buy a nice flip out headunit + compenents + amp + installation

edit

u can also goto http://www.realmofexcusion.com and watch videos of various sub's , they have alot of L7 videos that would prolly impress you

after thinking about it , shoot you could go ahead and get a **** solox if u have 5 g's to drop :p
