New test..IA 20.1 vs. Kicker ZX2500.1 vs. Orion 2500D

The rest of you that are hatin on the so called "ia boner," your all pathetic. I know that the 20.1 is not the strongest amp ever made, but time and time again it has proven itself to be a great amp. One, yes ONE, test comes along and everybody thats jealous of IA comes out of the woodworks and puts the amps down. The only reason there is an IA boner is because the amp works. Numerous "real" competitors have proven that.
PS. How many amps can you name that do rated power with crap batteries? Huh? RF T3000-not even close, Memphis 4kw - not a chance. The list goes on and on, so get over it.
So you're pretty much stating that the members of team phat hz are not real competitors, or did I read that wrong?

Imo, you're not representing your company that well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

No need to call people pethetic and say who is a "real" competitor and who isnt. Just state your experience with the products mentioned.

Also, what is your problem with this thread? Did they not have a strong enough electrical system for the 20.1? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

If so, this review is good. What about the normal folks, who want to get a good amount of power without a ton of upgrades?

THANK YOU!!!!! Ended the frickin "20.1 IS AMAZING!!!" hype....But it is an 1800RMS amp isnt it.
ALSO sooo your saying the kicker 2500 couldnt do 2500 at its reccomended load..... I swear the 2500D has put out over 2500 @.5. I just think i've seen someone post somewhere around that number before....probably birth sheet??
Had to have been a test, Orions dont come with birthsheets.

allright we now tested the IA @ .25 ohms dcr. not too shabby with the results, but it was still less efficient than the kicker and drew more current doing so.

lets compare:

kicker @ .5 dcr, rise up to 2.2 ohms - 25xx watts

IA @ .25 dcr, rise up to .98 ohms (not bad), 2458 watts

with the kicker the voltage dropped to 12.4

IA it dropped to 11.5

we couldnt get a full burp out of the kicker @ .25, it had a few more clicks left on the volume, but we got a 151.3 out of it, a few more clicks and it would have come close to a 153

the IA did a 152.0 flat @ .25 with a full burp out of it.

so the IA's aren't bad amps, they just need to be ran at a really low load and you have to have the voltage to back em up. which in my case the kickers would be more efficient for me. So I have no bad feelings about IA, this was never meant to be a flame war, i tested their amp out, i posted the results I got with them. And I chose the amp that was the most efficient that did great power for me.

the IA actually did OVER rated power rising up to 1 ohm. But I had to wire it down to .25 to get those results. supposed to do 1800x1 @ 1 ohm. i got 2458 watts. Not a shabby amp at all, just not going to work with my coil configurations, and i cant run daily @ .25, kept goin into protect on me, but that can be a voltage issue not an amp issue.

Glad you got some test results, I still believe something is wrong or the 20.1 would perform a lot better!

On Big Dave, I think he just gets a little aggravated in general as he knows a lot about all 3 amps. Gorman had 20+ Orion 2500's in his van and even at one time there whole crew had them Gorman, Willy and Dave. So he's got 3 years or so experience with them. Also the 3 of them build a lot of cars and I mean a lot they even do work for other Kicker cars so they have a lot of first hand experience with the Kicker ZX2500.1's. We even have a few Kicker guys on the team that have shared there results with us as well and out of TONS of test results, all which are close in number, the results didn’t go the way yours did. I'm not here to argue with any of you, the 20.1 are proven and everyone knows it. If you want to count our wins vs. loses in the lanes go ahead last count I had our batting average was about .950 or so in Drag and even higher in USAC. So with that being said I can see how Dave gets easily aggravated when he is giving valid info and taking a beating for it. Every time a 20.1 post comes along and one of my guys sees it and post they somehow are “taking up” for there brand so to speak, I don’t see it that way at all. There is a reason said guy is on my Team and that’s because he knows the products work or he’d be on another team. I mean I could easily say to TypeRBass that it’s convenient that the Kicker amp won since he’s on Team Kicker. So at the end of the day I’m glad you got your results and the Kickers work best for you. I love Tracy to death and hope to see him at NOPI Nationals in a few weeks, so in closing let calm down and have fun and stop pointing the finger. Now, I’m off to get a cold Bud! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

just to let you know Nick, no hard feelings are meant by these test results, these are just the results that we got, and we tested them a few times over and over to be sure. If i wasn't on Team Kicker i'm sure i would never have gotten a chance to test a zx2500.1. but they work great in my application. And it just so happens i'm on Team Kicker so it works out in my favor. I'm not just sayin that the results favored the ZX because of it. Hope to see you @ DBDrag finals //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

And i'm sure if i had more batteries the results would be very close between the two amps. But I'm a poor man that works @ Petsmart and makes $300 a week...So I work with what i'm able to.

There you go it takes 1/2 the load(1ohm vs 2.2) to get the same power. And you get .7 dbs.

Mod the Kicker which is possible and your numbers will go up alot.

Nick
Nothing wrong....PERIOD.

The amps just didn't perform in joe's setup. He's a person who likes loud music DAILY, not just in the lanes. In order for the 20.1 to put out more power than his daily driver stable amps, they have to be ran down low and fed a lot of current. This is no secret.

For any daily driver setup in which a person wants over 2kw, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the 2500d or the zx2500. Hell, even before the tests I would have said those amps over the 20.1. While the 20.1 has proven itself in the lanes, the other amps have proven themselves in daily driven installs.

EDIT: on a side note, this thread turned out more civilized than I thought it would. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

No hard feelings against IA or their products. Not many companies will come on to an internet forum and discuss their products. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif It's hard to even TALK to someone at most companies nowadays let alone have a full-blown discussion on their products vs. others.

Yes I'm glad this thread turned out civilized and not all little smart remarks and what not.

And as tommy said, i need my music LOUD all day everyday. I daily drive my car all day everyday //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I'm not just a burping wonder //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif That is another requirement for me while choosing amps.

think you could change the title so ORION is not included in this test as it was not tested?

i did a test like this awhile back with

rf t3000

orion 2500d

phd 5000

boy was there alot of the same thing.... this should have done that , ect ect

i would like to say that we have alot of power at the shop now for any one needing power to test amps

i have 4 2400's in the trunk and one up front and my teammate has 5 17v banks

i have on hand right now orion d5000's orion 2400d's rf t3000's and a few fusion 4kw surfboards!!

lets test!!!!
