New test..IA 20.1 vs. Kicker ZX2500.1 vs. Orion 2500D

but why vehicle?

So really, wiring an amp (thats stable to 1ohm) to .5ohms is nothing big, right?

Because after rise, your most likely going to be at 1ohm or higher

Resonant frequency of the vehicle can play around with pressure levels inside the box/outside the box is one of the factors.

Not necessarily, when a subwoofer drops below tuning... impedance rise is inverse... meaning it'll shoot HARDCORE down towards dead short.

Accidentally fried a modded MTX1501d playing @.175 this way... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Really? that can happen when the sub bottoms out, right? If a sub bottoms out, it means your playing it lower than it's tuning, is that right?

Not necessarily. A sub can bottom out from over-excursioning. ONE way to overexcursion a sub relatively easy is to attempt to play it loudly well under what the box is tuned to. It unloads and acts as if it is not in a box at all (or less like it, depends on how far below the tuned frequency you are).

But you can bottom out a sub above the tuning frequency (or in a sealed box) just by feeding it too much power for the driver/enclosure.
