New test..IA 20.1 vs. Kicker ZX2500.1 vs. Orion 2500D

I am on Team Kicker and run Kicker amps.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
same here, i'll be running them soon, ; 1-2 weeks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

and yeah they'll play all day long daily @ .7 but not .5 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif if they would have played @ .5 daily for me it would have been disgusting //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I already said I was not gonna come on here and argue with you guys anymore. As it has already been stated, I only came on here and stated FACTS that I had seen with my own 2 eyes. Im not some IA fan that talk sh!t about other amps that I know nothing about, like some of you always do. I have probably tested more amps than most of you guys will ever see in your life. I dont run IA for any other reason than because they were the best I had access to. I think some of you just like to down a company for being the "it" company of the moment and everybody having some IA boner pisses you off and you want to feel superior because you dont run amps from the "it" company.

You guys need to understand who or what caused everyone to have an IA boner? Was it maybe people just like you guys testing them and loving them? I think so. Maybe they dont work for everyone, but they worked for alot. How else would there be such a thing like an IA boner.

Wired to .5 but rise=1.07ohms
cool. so i have some dual 1.4 DC resistance subs coming to me. so if i wired them to .35 and had a massive electrical the IA 20.1 would give out a lil over 3kw? i figure with rise each sub will come up to about 2 ohms to give the pair a .5 load nominal. thanks jntar //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You cant "figure" rise. You have to mesure it. You would be WAY off to what you thought.

Boners are not caused simply because of testing.

They are caused because of HYPE. I don't think you were here for it, but there was a HUGE thread on the new '06 RE XXX. The funny part is that the thread was started in early '05!!!

Nobody knew a D*MN thing about the sub. No specs, sizes, prices....NOTHING. That didn't seem to slow down the new XXX boner.

Mine wouldn't even burp @1ohm w/o cutting out...
To the ear, I had about a dozen people around... daily in my truck.

IA 20.1 @.35

Kicker ZX2500.2 @1.4

On my 15MT... DAILY

The Kicker was noticeably louder to the ear.

nG
Mine plays all day long at .7 ohms and it is also hooked up to a MT //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Infact the only time it has seen a different ohm load was last night when we had it in Joes truck

What kind of impedance rise do you have?

not really sure i never checked with this amp but on my MTX's i rose to 3.2
You're rising above it's load cutoff then... and if it's never cut off, you've probably risen above noah's Brahma extreme.

I'm kinda shocked at how solid this amp has been, it cuts out then comes right back on, and it's been running like that for a while.... no failures yet.

I don't personally care for my other kicker amps, but this one seems to be very solid.

well in mine when it was @ .5 dcr rised to 2.2....and it would go into protect on music. could only burp it that low and you had to roll it up. but kicker has some very very solid amps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and i'll be proud to run them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

and just to state this....i WOULD stick with the IA's IF...i ahd a LOT more batteries, my subs were dual .5's (1/4 to each sub with 4 amps, uh oh did i just give something away?) and if they were stable for music @ 1/4 also.

Well here are the resultsclamped the IA @ .5 ohms again.

did about 1800 watts with a 2.2 ohm rise

the Kicker @ 2 ohms did abouit 1500 with a 8.9 ohm rise //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

the Kicker @ 1 ohm did a 2150 with a 4.3 ohm rise and was 90% efficient..and yes we did the math

the kicker @ .5 ohm did 2550 with a 2.2 ohm rise...

okay so let me get this straight. in order to get the 2500 watts out of the kicker the amp must be run with subs wired at .5 ohms since the ohm rises anyways? trhat is a waste of money to buy an amp that does 2500 @ 2 ohms and when you wire it at 2 ohms it only puts out 1500. there is no possible way to get the 2500 if you wire the subs at 2 ohms?

This holds true for ANY amp. Although everyone's impedence rises and spikes will vary, most people will NEVER get the rated power out of their amps.
