I'm helping a buddy with a new system for his truck:

-I have the subs, amp, and wires ordered and they are in transit.

(2) Alpine SWR 1242D 12" Subs

Hifonics BXi1606D 3200 watt amp

20' Stinger 0 guage wiring

Capacitor not ordered yet (How many farad should I get? What Brand?)

Can anyone give me some reviews of these subs and the amp? Does this seem like a good match?

The Vehicle: 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 4wd Single Cab

Will this be too much of a system for a single cab truck?

Any recommendations on a box design? Ported, Sealed? Any Ideas how in the world to give these things enough air space without having to drive with your knees crammed in the dash?

Thanks in Advance!

i would say its a pretty good set up..i think that amp would do nice on two type rs, amp should do about 1600@1...but im not much on capicators i never use them myself..but as for those other people on here may be able to help u on that one...besides that next is prolly deciding on the box u wanna go...what kind of music is he in to more?

Bad choice on subs for a single cab. Those subs are meant to be ported, not sealed. And good luck getting around 5-6 cu ft gross in the back of the seat. Maybe try only one ported for now... Don't use a capacitor, just get like an optima yellow top to replace ur battery and you should be fine.

My suggestion is, cancel or sell the subs, get either some shallow mounts or 8s.

Don't waste your money on the cap, buy a good batt like a Kinetik 1400 or Optima Yellow Top.... Those subs/amp are a good match though, just don't see where ur gonna put a proper box in a single cab pickup.

Not SSD...

E8s or DD1508s would be nice and loud //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah or get a Fi Q if you like sound quality I just sold my fi bl and it put kicker l7s to shame.

Throw a fi q 12 in the back or a 10 in the back of the *****

Don't u see the problem of having a single cab? He has limited mounting depth.... A Q or BL prob wont fit unless he takes off a lot of leg room..

I just remembered, the SI BM would be a good choice too! The new ones are coming out (not sure when) but u can find the v1s somewhere...

I seen some one have a fi q in a ford 150... and thats a tite fit...dodge has way more room. If he has the box building skills he can make that fi Q fit nicely....Go with 2 e8s behind that...try and fined them used on the forums you can get them nice and cheap
