New Subbie, Looking for New Equipment

I just bought a new to me 2003 Subaru outback, and now I'm in need of more sound, lol. I'm going to start by picking up a pair of the factory tweeters (new or used) that weren't installed on my car. Depending on the sound of them I might keep them for a while, but eventually I'll throw something nicer in the housings. I'm in the process of deciding whether to buy a single 12" P300-12 powered sub and then buy another in the future, or if I should start from scratch with a single 12" and an amp and then in the future I add another.

The powered route would give me 300W rms now, and upgraded to 600W.

With the "start from scratch" angle I could put as much power in there as I want, but I'm not sure how much power I really need.
