New Sub Not Getting Loud

I hooked my Punch P3 12" up to it in a big ported box and it still wasn't loud.. What the hell? Amp is actually a alpine mrd-n500 i was mistaken. it doesn't make sense though because it would seem as though I have enough power considering the multimeter said i was getting 30 volts?

- That can surely change when you put a load on the amp though... What kind of wiring do you have running to this amp, and what are you using for a ground?

If your willing to drive I live in bloomington and would be happy to take a look at it.. You seem like your fairly new to all this, and I can let you know if your expecting too much or actually troubleshoot if there is an issue.

Anyway 30 volts at 2 ohms is 450 watts. Your only gaining maybe 1-2db over the RF sub you had in the vehicle before. Generally that's maybe another click or two on a volume knob, not much change at all. Most subs are going to be very similar in a medium/small sealed box. Unless you dump alot of power on the sub and it has the excursion and powerhandling to make use of it, SPL won't change much by switching subs, especially with 10's since alot of them are mechanically limited vs a 12 or 15.

The sd ten sealed doesn't get that loud until full power. And after break in I have been over powering mine from day one

I had a saz 1500 on them at 1 ohm now I have a kicker kx 2500.1 running them at 4ohm. I don't think I've ever got them past 137db

I put the 2 in .8 cubic foot sealed each they got a lil lower

Wait!! I think I understand now from reading a earlier reply to this thread.........I never took the sundowns out too dinner, I didn't even get them flowers. I guess I have to change myself not my subs.

You'd probably get louder with one 10 ported than with two 10s not.

ported will get you alot louder!
