New Sub Not Getting Loud

That meter is fine as long as you know what you need to subtract in order to have the correct reading.

Go over your wiring in the box and to the amp again to make sure it is all correct. Then go over your amplifier settings to make sure nothing is set incorrectly.

Subsonic filter around 25-30

LPF around 60

should get you started in the right direction.

Looks like after doing that my impedence is around 3.6OHM per coil. Could it be because of my ****** Harbor Freight meter? Does that mean the sub itself is OK?
3.6 is fine for 4 ohm coils. Maybe your expecting more out of the sub than a ten in 500 watts sealed can do? Always have to bring that option up idk your background

If you have a 50hz 0db clean test tone you could test the ~vac output from your amplifier with your meter, that's what I would do first... Make sure your amp is giving power... at 75% HU volume with all eq settings flat and your interior speakers either HPF set well above 50hz, shut off, (If possible with your HU) or disconnected, play your test tone on repeat with your meter hooked up to the pos & neg terminals set to read ~vac - You should be able to turn your gain up until you read 31.62~vac = 500 watts @ 2 ohm

Could very well be the situation.

Sub sounds fine, not just loud. I've had a 10" Punch P2 in here and it sounded just as loud.
If you have it on similar power and enclosure then there will likely be next to no difference at all.

It's putting out about 30vac, maybe it is as loud as it should be.. But my Punch P2 in a smaller box on 250 watts was just as loud
Your most likely expecting way to much out of it. When in reality you havent chnged enough to see a huge difference. Doubling the power on the same exact setup would gain aproximately 3 dbs. Thats not big to the human ear. If you want to get louder try to go ported

Oh, that's no ordinary subwoofer. That is a Sundown. You must take her out to dinner, introduce her to mom, then lube her up right before bed time. Believe me, she will get loud after that. You do that in the order that I listed. PM if you have further problems.

I hooked my Punch P3 12" up to it in a big ported box and it still wasn't loud.. What the hell? Amp is actually a alpine mrd-n500 i was mistaken. it doesn't make sense though because it would seem as though I have enough power considering the multimeter said i was getting 30 volts?
